Psalm 23:1 (AMP) 1 THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (Psalm 35:27 (KJV) 27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
Jesus redeemed us from poverty but to hear some people, you wouldn’t think so. It’s almost as if many people are proud of their lack, which is really poverty. They somehow think that it’s a sign of humility to have just enough to get by! Not so according to God’s Word.
God takes pleasure in our prosperity. Never does He say that He takes pleasure in our poverty! Why? Because Jesus bought and paid the price so that we don’t have to be poor. In fact, the scripture He preached in the synagogues was:
Luke 4:18 (KJV) 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
He preached the gospel – the Good News – to the poor so that they didn’t have to be poor anymore. How awesome is that!
As you know, God doesn’t change and His Word doesn’t change. He says what He means and means what He says.
2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV)
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich1, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich2.
Rich1 – plousios – wealthy
Rich2 – plouteo – to become wealthy, be increased in goods, be made rich
Jesus left the riches of Heaven and became poor so that we could be increased in wealth in this earth. And here’s the reason why:
Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV) 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
How can we preach the Gospel to the whole world if we don’t have the finances to do it? That’s the main reason for increasing in our finances. But that’s not all.
God never requires anything of us without giving us something in return. But we have to give Him something to work with.
When we tithe, He opens the windows of Heaven and pours out a blessing on us.
Malachi 3:10 (KJV) 10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
When we give to the Gospel, He says we can believe for 30, 60, and 100 fold return.
Matthew 13:8 (KJV) 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
But, as I said, we have to give Him something to work with – if you multiply a hundred times nothing, you still have nothing!
Let’s start doing things God’s way and enjoy the benefits of our Redemption!
Luke 6:38 (KJV) 38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
