It’s Later than It’s Ever Been!

No matter who you ask, the consensus of opinion is that time is flying by. When we get to July, we wonder where the first half of the year went and before you know it, it’s Christmas, New Year’s Day, and we start all over.

So, why does it seem that things go by so fast? Is it just that we’re older and we see things differently than when we were young? These might all be a factor but the real truth is that, yes, time has actually speeded up and we are definitely headed toward the end of this age!

Even the unsaved can sense that the end is near. But we, as Christians, know it is. God said it in His Word and you can take that to the bank (Mark 13:7-9)!

So, knowing all this, what are we to do about it? Let’s check with God and what He has to say. In I Thessalonians 4:18, we are told to comfort one another with the fact that Jesus is coming soon. Yay! But hasn’t that been preached for 2000 years? Yes, it has, but you need to see what soon means on God’s time table.

II Peter 5:8 we see that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. Therefore, 2000 years in God’s timing is only two days and two days is soon, no matter how you look at it.

In Luke 19:13 Jesus tells us to occupy ’til He comes back for us. But just what does this mean? It doesn’t mean that we are to be busy, busy, busy! Occupy means that we are to take the dominion that God has given us and overcome the evil in this world (Genesis 1:26, 28). Jesus is waiting for His enemies to be made His footstool (Matthew 22:44) and our part is to take our authority and overcome Satan, his cohorts, and his evil workings (Mark 16:17; Luke 10:19).

No matter how you look at it, time is short and we have a limited time to get things done and fulfill the plans God has for our lives. Let’s go for it! Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!

Psalm 90:12 (KJV) 12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

’Til next time — Pamela
