Are You a Faither?

Faithers – who are they and how do you become one?

Faithers (my word) are those who walk by faith and not by sight (II Corinthians 5:7).  They’re the ones that Hebrews 11 speaks of – the heroes of faith, the ones who will eternally be in the Hall of Faith.

2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)  (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

So, how can we become faithers? How do we walk in the faith of Abraham, Moses, and Joshua? By walking in God’s Word!

Remember Romans 10:17 (KJV) 17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

You first have to develop your faith by planting the Word of God in your heart: hear, study, meditate, confess, and act on the Word. That’s how you plant it into your heart (spirit) where it can grow by continuing to hear, study, meditate, confess and act on it.

Don’t be discouraged because you think everyone else has more faith then you do. We all start out the same – one lump, one measure.

Romans 12:3b (KJV)   … according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

What we do with our measure determines how much we grow and develop in our faith. Becoming a faith giant is do-able for everyone who puts forth the effort. And the rewards are beyond measure. Go for it!

Hebrews 11:6a (KJV)  But without faith it is impossible to please him:

There’s No Such Thing as a Worried Bird!

Worry! Doesn’t everybody worry? Isn’t that what a good parent does? No, and you shouldn’t! Worry is fear and just as fear is deadly, so is worry. It can literally paralyze your faith, making it inoperative and you’ll get no results because you’re focusing on the wrong things.

Worry means you’re not trusting God and His Word. It’s a choice and you can do it. You’re not a slave to worry. If you’re born-again, you have the Holy Spirit to help you.

Even birds have enough sense not to worry because God takes care of them. Our Heavenly Father loves us and has so provided everything we’ll ever need. We need to believe and receive! That’s where our faith comes in and gets the promises.

Matthew 6:26 (KJV) 26  Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Matthew 10:31 (KJV) 31  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV)  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. [When we receive the promises, we partake of God’s own divine nature.]

So, just how do you stop the worry? That’s an easy answer: you stop feeding it and replace it with the promises of God. Bind the worry thoughts and command them to leave in the Name of Jesus. You can’t worry about the problem and meditate on the promises at the same time.

Speaking the Word out loud will eventually displace the worry thoughts. And though you might have to attack those thoughts minute by minute at first, you will get the victory if you keep at it. Your whole faith walk depends on it!

By not feeding the worry with thoughts about the problem, you’ll starve it and it’ll wither and die. Speaking the truth of God’s Word will feed your faith and override the worry, setting you free.

John 8:32 (KJV) 32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The Blessing is Already Here!

First of all, let me make a shocking statement: Everything we’ll ever need on planet earth has already been provided by our Heavenly Father! Wow! Really? Yes, really! It might not seem like it’s true, but it is nonetheless. Let’s go to God’s Word and find out the truth. Remember, our experiences don’t prove or negate the Word of God. God’s Word is true, now and always, regardless of anyone’s experience.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV)  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Here we see that God has not only blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Christ, but He has also given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him – Jesus.

Notice that all these blessings have already been given to us – past tense. But, they’ve been given through the knowledge of the Jesus, Who is the Word of God.  Everything we need is in the God’s Word and has already been given. Our part is to receive. Remember, there’s a God-part and a man-part.

So, how do we receive? By our faith! We can’t get away from faith. That’s the way we please God and access all the blessings that He’s already given.

Walking by faith and not by sight has to be learned because our natural inclination is to follow the flesh, which does not get us the promises of God. Being led by the flesh [our five physical senses] is called being carnal and that leads to death. But, being spiritually minded, by following the Word, leads to life and peace.

Romans 8:5-8 (KJV)  For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Being led by your five physical senses is being led by your flesh and that will not get the promises of God to manifest in your life. Even though all things that we will ever need have already been given, they’re not in the physical realm but in the spirit realm. And the way we access the spirit realm to bring what we need into the physical realm is by our faith!

Romans 10:17 (KJV) 17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Keep growing and developing your faith so that you can partake of all the blessings the Lord has provided for you.

Your Answers are Merely a Prayer Away!

How many times have you thought: If I just knew who to ask about my situation/circumstance! It would be so great to have someone at your fingertips who could give you just the right direction you need — someone who would always be there for you and actually have the right answer. Well, I’ve got good news for you – we have that Someone and He always has the right answer!

The Holy Spirit has been given to us to lead, guide, and direct us along our Christian journey. He is always available – 24/7 – and will never lead us astray.

Jesus has been made wisdom unto us. That means when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, He becomes our wisdom. How awesome is that! That means we have access to all the godly wisdom there is. Think about it – all the wisdom you’ll ever need is available through the Lord Jesus via the Holy Spirit, Who represents the Lord Jesus here on earth.

When Jesus was resurrected, He sent the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all Truth. That means we can always get the right answer to our situation by asking the Lord for wisdom and He will always give it to us.

John 14:16-17 (KJV) 16  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 14:26 (KJV) 26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13 (KJV) 13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Another thing I want you to notice is that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus and, get this, we dwell in Him! Therefore, we have access to all the wisdom of the Godhead! That’s almost too much to comprehend with our mortal minds. That’s why we have to receive this truth into our spirits by faith. We can believe things with our spirit that our minds don’t understand.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) 30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Colossians 1:19 (KJV) 19  For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Colossians 2:3 (KJV) 3  In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Colossians 2:9-10 (KJV) 9  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

John 1:16 (KJV) 16  And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

Proverbs 2:7a (KJV) 7  He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous…

God is not withholding anything from us. He has given us all things to be victorious on planet earth. He has reserved His wisdom for the righteous and we need to avail ourselves of it. Why go through this life struggling because you just don’t know what to do? You don’t have to. God has so graciously provided His wisdom to see you through. Ask Him and He will give it to you. Then go on and live a life in the Lord that’s worth living!

James 1:5-8 (KJV) 5   If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Believing is a Choice!

We’ve all heard someone exclaim, “I can’t believe that!” (Maybe you heard yourself say it!) But is that really a true assessment of the situation? Is that person really incapable of believing? No! Believing is a choice. It’s not that the person can’t believe, it’s that they won’t believe. You are capable of choosing to believe whatever you want to believe!

For example: If your friend tells you something incredible, you would probably be inclined to believe it because your friend has a track record with you. So, even though what your friend tells you is something that seems so far out, you’re inclined it believe it because of your friendship. You choose to believe. It’s a choice regardless of whether or not the facts line up with your thinking.

How much more should we believe God, Who doesn’t lie, and is only out for our good?

Another example is electricity. Most of us don’t have more than a passing knowledge of how electricity works but that doesn’t stop us from using it. It’s the same with TV and radio waves. We don’t have to have a full understanding of those things before we make the choice to run with it.

By now you’ve probably guessed where I’m going with this message. You don’t have to have a full understanding of God’s Word in order to choose to believe it. It’s a choice that anyone can make. In fact, in most cases regarding God’s Word, you have to choose to believe it first, and then the understanding comes. That’s really how you got saved. You didn’t understand everything about salvation before you got saved. But once you made the choice to believe that Jesus paid the price to redeem you from your sins, you then began to understand how much it really cost and how precious you are to God.

Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) 9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 3:3 (KJV) 3  For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

John 6:64 (KJV) 64  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

This is Jesus! And some of them didn’t choose to believe Him – the Holy Son of God, Who only spoke what the Father told Him to speak! You can’t get more truthful and accurate than that!

Then there’s the apostle Paul.

Acts 28:24 (KJV) 24  And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Paul, who wrote 2/3 to 3/4 of the NewTestament, still encountered people who chose not to believe the Word of God that He preached.

You see, you can choose to believe anything you want. The unsaved do that all the time. They’re into all kinds of whacky things thinking they’re so smart, but they’re really following the devil and that path leads right to hell.

I challenge you today to make a quality decision that you will believe the Word of God, no matter what! No matter if you understand if fully or not. Just commit to honoring God by believing His Word. Then, as you continue in the Word, understanding and revelation will come and you’ll be so glad you made the right choice!

Who Needs More Wisdom?

How many times have you ever had to make a decision of some importance and weren’t sure if you would make the right one? I think most of us have been there. Fortunately, there’s a way to consistently make the right decisions, with no regrets. Wow! Can this be? Yes – read on.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

As you can see from the above scripture, Jesus is our Wisdom. When we got born-again, Jesus became Wisdom unto us, just like He is our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. I don’t think anyone would argue that He is our redemption. We know and believe that. Therefore, if one part of the scripture is true, then the rest of it is also.

Remember, as I always say, God’s Word has to be the benchmark, the final authority, for all that we do. If we need wisdom, we need to go to God’s Word and find out what He has to say.

First of all, if you need wisdom, ask God for it. He will always lead and direct you by his Spirit. We are told to ask if we need something and it will be given to us (Matt. 7:7-8; James 1:5). God’s will for us is to know Him and His ways. He wants us to be successful and victorious in this life. That’s why He has so provided for us via His Word. Every answer you’ll ever need is in the Word of God. That’s His part. Our part is to dig it out, partake of it and be the overcomers and the more than conquerors that He intends for us to be.

Remember, what God says, is! You can count on Him to always make a way for you. The Holy Spirit is your Guide and He will direct your path. Yield yourself to His wisdom and believe to be in the right place at the right time to make the right decisions.

Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV) 7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:8  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

James 1:5 (KJV) 5   If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

James 3:17 (KJV) 17  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) 5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

1 John 5:14-15 (KJV) 14  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Whose Report Will You Believe?

Romans 10:16 (KJV) 16  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

There are always at least two reports that confront you any time you have to make a decision.  In any given situation, we always have the choice of whether to believe what our senses say, or to believe what God has already said in His Word.

Sense knowledge is knowledge based on the five physical senses: what you can see, hear, taste, smell, or feel. Spirit knowledge – the God-kind of knowledge or Revelation knowledge – is the knowledge that you get from God and His Word. So far so good? Keep reading.

Yes, of course, we need sense knowledge to function in this world because we are human beings. But, sense knowledge is not the do-all, end-all of everything. Remember, there are two realms that we deal with: the physical realm and the spirit realm. The spirit realm is the higher realm because it created the physical realm.

Continuing on. To be led by the physical senses only, is to set yourself up for defeat because the Word says to be carnally minded (senses ruled) is death. God can’t be much clearer than that. But He also says to be spiritually minded is life and peace. And isn’t that what we want?

So, how do we be spiritually-minded instead of sense-ruled? Simply by seeking God’s way of doing things instead of the world’s way. I like to say it this way: The Word of God has to be the “benchmark” for all you do. Whenever a situation or circumstance confronts you, always go to the Word – what does God have to say about this thing? He knew about your situation before it even confronted you. He’s already got it covered.

God has so graciously provided everything we’ll ever need on planet earth for us to be victorious. But, our part is to seek out His way of doing things and then DO IT! Just knowing the answer won’t get results. You actually have to DO IT!

Remember, God is our loving Father, out for our good, and He is faithful, faithful, faithful!

Romans 8:6-9 (KJV) 6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Matthew 6:33 (AMP) 33  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Even Horses have Good Sense!

My husband told me an interesting story that happened years ago when he lived in upstate NY. He, his father, and brother went to a horse auction where his father purchased four beautiful horses.

When they arrived home, they drove up to the barn, opened the door, and turned on the lights. Having set up the ramp for the horses to exit, they then opened the door of the truck. But, much to their surprise, instead of walking down the ramp to the barn, the horses leaped over everyone and took off into the dark of night!

Well, as you can imagine, everyone was quite upset, even the truck driver, as he had never before seen that happen.

What to do? Everyone was exhausted from the days’ activities and decided the best thing to do was go to bed and get some rest. Trying to corral runaway horses in the middle of the night didn’t seem like the better part of wisdom.

So, Jim’s father put out some oats, left the barn door open and the lights on, hoping the horses would find their way back.

In the morning, lo and behold, all four horses had returned, safe, sound, and content to be where they should be. They followed the light and found their way home.

So, what’s the lesson here? Jesus is the Word of God, the Son of God, the Light of the world, and the Bright and Morning Star. When we follow the Light of the world, Jesus, by following His Word, we too will arrive at the place we’re to be.

Even sunflowers follow the sun throughout the day. We follow the Son!  There’s a message here for all to see. If you aren’t following Jesus, the Light of the world, the only other thing out there is darkness. Which will you follow?

John 8:12 (KJV) 12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Deuteronomy 30:19(KJV) 19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

We Don’t Know Everything!

It should be obvious that we don’t know everything, so why do we think we have to know everything? We don’t understand all there is about electricity but we still use lamps, microwaves, and ACs in our homes. Not understanding how they all work, doesn’t stop us from using them. Right? We even fly in planes and to our amazement, they get off the ground!

So what’s the point? Too many times people try to figure out HOW God is going to answer their prayer requests before they step out in faith. This might not seem like a bad thing but the down side is that if they can’t figure it out, then they “think” that God can’t do it!

Since when does our mind even compare to the awesome wisdom of God? There’s a whole realm – the spirit realm – that our minds can’t wrap around. We live in the physical realm, where our senses dominate. But God lives and operates out of the spirit realm, which is way beyond our minds. (Remember, God is a Spirit and that’s how we contact Him – spirit to Spirit – John 4:24.)

Romans 8:7 (KJV) 7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

You don’t have to know how God is going to do what you have asked Him to do before you can use your faith to receive the promises He’s given. Trying to figure it all out before you will believe is called reasoning. And the drawback to reasoning is that the more you reason, the farther away from the supernatural you go. That’s not good and that’s not faith!

Galatians 5:16(KJV) 16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Walking by your reasoning is walking in the flesh – your five physical senses. Walking by your flesh is being carnally minded and that leads to death. But to be spiritually minded is to walk by faith in God and His Word and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. That’s life and peace.

Romans 8:6(KJV) 6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

So, just as you don’t have to know how electricity works to partake of its benefits, so it is with faith in the Word of God and His promises. His Word always works!

1 Kings 8:56b (KJV)56  … there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

You’re More that a Number on a Scale!

Some of you might say, “Of course!” But others will know exactly what I’m saying. It all depends on how you view yourself.

Who are you, really? Do you get up in the morning, weigh yourself, and then let your weight set the tone for the rest of your day? Sad to say, many do exactly that! And it’s not just the scale that dictates to us, but the mirror too: too fat, too skinny, too plain, too bald, etc. This has to change!

So, how do we change? How do we not let our looks dictate our attitude? That’s what I’m going to address and, hopefully, help those who only see through the eyes of their bathroom scale and mirror.

Let’s start with who we really are. How do we even know who we really are? Well, that part is easy – we are who God says we are. You can’t get any better than that! But, the problem lies not in who God says we are, but who we perceive we are.

Unfortunately, our perception is colored, and many times determined, by how other people perceive us. Too often we let the world define us instead of our loving Heavenly Father, Whose we are and Whom we serve.

The Word of God says that we are the apple of God’s eye (Ps. 17:8; Zech.2:8) and that He loves us with an everlasting love (Jer.31:3). He said He would never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5), that we’re in His family for all eternity (Eph. 3:14-15), and He holds us in the palm of His hand (Isa. 49:16 Amp.)!

Continuing on, God’s Word tells us that we are in right standing with Him (1 Cor. 1:30) through the Blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7), and that He’s given us power and authority over all the power of the devil and nothing by any means shall hurt us (Luke 10:19). And that’s just the tip of the ol’ proverbial iceberg!

God tells us in His Word that He loves us with the same love that He loves Jesus (John 17:23) and that we even have the faith of Jesus (Gal. 2:20) residing in us. Wow! We can’t lose because we’re more than conquerors through the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:37)!

Of course, all of the above is contingent upon your being born-again, having made Jesus your Lord and Savior (John 3:3, 7). But that’s easy to do because it’s God’s free gift to us. All we have to do is accept His free gift of Jesus to us (Rom. 10:9-10).

Summing it up, we are more than the number on the bathroom scale or what the mirror reflects. Of course, we want to look good and do the best we can with what we have but you can’t have a relationship with a person’s physique. We have a relationship with people who are made up of personalities, attitudes, thoughts, emotions, dreams, visions, desires, etc. – not with good looks, bad looks, fat, skinny, tall, short, hairy or bald.

We are what God says we are and He’s the One Who counts because He’s the One we’ll spend all eternity with. Praise the Lord for His unspeakable gift of – Jesus – and His loving kindness to us!
