Don’t Let Your Past Dictate Your Future

[I encourage you to avail yourself of over 500 blogs on my website. I believe they will be a blessing to you.]

Some people don’t need their enemies to beat them up because they do a good job of it themselves. How many times have we punished ourselves mentally because of our past mistakes? Too many, I’d say.

First of all, when we get born-again, all of our past is forgiven – wiped cleaned. Our sins are remitted which means that they are forever gone and forgotten by God.

Psalm 103:12 (KJV) 12  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Secondly, when we sin after we’re born-again, we confess our sins and God is just and righteous to forgive us by the Blood of Jesus.

1 John 1:7 (KJV) 7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1 John 1:9 (KJV) 9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So, what’s our problem? It’s the devil who condemns us and tries to keep our past mistakes in the forefront of our minds. We need to recognize that it’s him and not blame God. God is not the One Who is telling us we’re so unworthy and such a failure. God is on our side and He’s rooting for us! We are His special treasure!

Malachi 3:17 (KJV)17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. [Margin says special treasure.]

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, the born-again ones. God doesn’t condemn you and He’s the One Who counts!

Romans 8:1 (KJV) 1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

If you continue to let your past condemn you, you will hinder the plans and purposes God has for you. Everyone makes mistakes and misses it. You can’t live on planet earth without missing the goal sometime or other. The point is that you must confess the mistake, forgive yourself, receive forgiveness, and get back up and go forward. Why listen to the devil when he’s a liar and is out to steal, kill, and destroy? Jesus came to give you abundant life to enjoy. Enjoy it!

Proverbs 24:16a (KJV) 16  For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again John 10:10 (KJV) 10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

How Can You be Upset When You have the Solution?

Why is it that we, as humans, get upset first, and then look for the solution to our problems? Wouldn’t it be wiser to go to the solution and then rest in that? The answer, of course, is yes!

So, where are these “solutions” that we have available to us? You guessed it – God’s Word! Why would our heavenly Father, Who loves us with an everlasting love, expect us to go through this life on planet earth, left to our own devices and solutions? He wouldn’t and He hasn’t. Everything we’ll ever need to be successful and victorious has already been provided for us!

Yes, God has so graciously provided for our every need in His Word. That’s His part. Our part is to receive that Word and walk in it. Let me give you a few examples:

For our sins, He bore them on the Cross.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) 24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed

For sickness, He has already healed us by the stripes of Jesus.

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes

1 Peter 2:24b (KJV) 24…by whose stripes ye were healed.

Mark 16:18 (KJV) 18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

For poverty, Jesus became poor so that we might become rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV) 9  For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Psalm 84:11 (KJV) 11  For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV) 33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Philippians 4:19 (KJV) 19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

For deliverance, He has given us His Name so that we can resist the devil and he will flee.

James 4:7 (KJV) 7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Philippians 2:9-10 (KJV) 9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

John 14:13-14 (KJV)13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. [The word ask means demand. We demand the devil to leave in the Name of Jesus.]

For spiritual death, He has given us eternal life through the Lord Jesus.

John 3:3 (KJV) 3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 1:12 (KJV) 12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) 9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We have the Blood of Jesus, the Name of Jesus, the faith of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the whole armor of God, and the angels. Plus all of Heaven backs us when we stand on the Word of God in faith and declare His truth over every situation.

Hebrews 13:5b (KJV) 5  … I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Numbers 23:19 (KJV) 19  God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Redeemed from What? Part II

Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV) 4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) 24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Secondly, in addition to redeeming us from our sins, Jesus, at the same time, redeemed us from sickness and disease. God the Father laid all of our sicknesses and diseases on Jesus. He was wounded for our transgressions and by His stripes we were healed. Every foul, wicked, demon of sickness and disease was laid upon Jesus so that we could be redeemed from all that sickness and disease. We don’t have to tolerate it anymore. We can walk completely free from every sickness and disease that has plagued mankind. Our well-being has been bought with the precious blood of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. He bore it so that we don’t have to bear it. Let’s gird up our loins and walk in the divine health that belongs to us!

Thirdly, Jesus died spiritually. This means he was completely separated from the Father. That’s what spiritual death is. We are spirit beings in a flesh body. Our spirits will never die but they can be separated from our Heavenly Father and that’s called spiritual death. That’s what happens to those who die physically without Jesus. They also die spiritually – separated from God the Father for all eternity. When Jesus cried out, “Why hast Thou forsaken Me?” – that was the ultimate part of the Redemption.

Luke 22:42 (KJV)42  Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Jesus had always been with the Father – eternally and not ever separated. In the Garden, He asked if that cup could pass from Him. It was the most profound question of all eternity. If God would have agreed, we all would be lost. And remember, Jesus always got His prayers answered. But, thank the Lord, Jesus continued with, “Nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done!” It was the separation from the Father that gripped Him; nothing else compared to it. But He accepted all that had to be done to purchase our redemption and bring us back into relationship with our Father God.

Jesus’ sacrifice, His substitutionary sacrifice, was a complete redemption. We are completely delivered from Satan’s dominion and his demonic ways: sin, sickness, and spiritual death.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) 4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Now, we have our part to do in enforcing Satan’s defeat. We must stand our ground against his wiles and trickery or he will beat out our spiritual brains. He lies, cheats, steals, destroys, and deceives trying to get us to back off of our faith stand and side in with him. Don’t do it!

You have been given all the spiritual weapons you’ll ever need to stand firm in your Redemption. Jesus already paid for it. Now you must walk in it if you want to live a victorious life. You have been given: the Blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Name of Jesus, Angelic protection, the Word of God, the armor of God, the Faith of Jesus.

With these weapons, you are guaranteed to succeed, to prosper, and to live a life worth living. God is on your side and all of Heaven is rooting for you. Go for it!

We have been made righteous in God’s eyes. This means we can stand in His presence without any sense of sin-consciousness, inferiority, or condemnation. All glory to our good and faithful God!

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) 16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) 17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) 16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) 4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Galatians 4:4 (KJV) 4  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Philippians 2:5-9 (KJV) 5   Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:7  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Redeemed from What? Part I

When you receive a gift card, how do you use it? You redeem it at the appropriate store. When you receive a check, what do you do? You redeem it at the bank.

So, what does it mean that Jesus redeemed us? Just what is Redemption? Most Christians will acknowledge that they are redeemed but when you question them as to what that means, what is the answer?

To redeem means to buy back; to turn in and receive something in exchange. An example would be store coupons. With the coupons, you receive a certain amount of money deducted from the payment of your purchase.

When Adam sinned, we lost our right standing with God. The whole human race was plunged into darkness, headed for eternal damnation. But God, in His infinite wisdom and foreknowledge, had a plan already in place. He would send a “Redeemer” to buy back what had been lost. He would, through Jesus, redeem mankind from sin, sickness, and spiritual death.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) 30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Now, if you’ve been a Christian for any length of time, you’ve probably heard this. But do you know the magnitude of what actually happened?

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) 21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

When Jesus went to the Cross, He redeemed us from sin by becoming sin for us. He not only took our sins on His pure, sinless Spirit, but He actually became that horrible sin. He was made sin! Pure and holy as He was, He was made sin – the evil, demonic, filth of this world, the very nature of Satan, so that we could become righteous in the eyes of our Father God, having no sense of sin-consciousness, inferiority, or condemnation.

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) 16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The only way Jesus could have died was to be made sin for us. Heretofore, He had no sin in Himself. Sin is what causes death. So, when He took our sins on Himself, He died. He paid the total price for our Redemption so that we don’t have to pay it.

But it’s our choice. We can receive what He has done for us or reject it. In the final analysis, we will have no excuse for where we end up – Heaven or hell – because it’s our choice. We need to make the right choice and choose God’s way of salvation by accepting what Jesus did for us as our Savior and make Him our Lord. Then we can all rejoice together in heaven for all eternity!

How Many Sins Will Keep You Out of Heaven?

Which sins are the really bad ones – adultery, murder, theft? What about lying, gossip, criticism, and judging others? H-m-m . . . let’s see what God has to say.

James 2:10 (KJV) 10  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

The Law has to do with what God has commanded us to do. In James we see that if we commit just one sin, we’re guilty of all sins. That’s why Jesus went to the Cross because we couldn’t be perfect and sinless. Only He could and is.

Every sin we commit makes us guilty of all sins. That’s what God said. So what do we do? I’m glad you asked because that’s not the problem.

It’s not our various sins that keep us out of Heaven because Jesus paid the price for those sins. In fact, He paid the price for everyone’s sins – past, present, and future. But, we have to receive what He did or we’re still in our sins. It’s not automatic that everyone gets saved. It’s a choice, an individual choice.

Now, back to the original question: How many sins will keep you out of Heaven? The answer is: one! But you have to know which one it is. There’s only one sin that will keep you out of Heaven and send you to hell: the sin of not accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior!

It was never God’s intention that humans go to hell. He wants everyone to get saved.

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Once you’re born-again, you’ve become a new creation, not just a new and improved version of your old self! And even though the penalty for sins has been paid, you still need to repent when you sin. You need to live a life that’s pleasing to the Lord. And you can do it!

Which Truth Will Make You Free?

You’ve heard it over and over, the truth shall make you free.  I’ve heard it on TV programs. I’ve even heard unsaved, non-believers say it. But what does it really mean? Does the truth itself make you free? Let’s go to God’s Word and find out.

John 8:32 (KJV) 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

This is Jesus speaking, saying that the truth shall make you free. But, hold on. There’s a danger in taking something out of context. So, let’s back up to the previous verse.

John 8:31-32(KJV) 31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Notice that Jesus said if you continue in His Word, you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.  But that’s still not all there is to it.

For example, if you’re in debt and someone deposits money into your bank account, are you debt free? No! You still have to withdraw the money and pay off your debts. You have your part to do. Just knowing something is not what makes you free. What makes you free, is walking in the truth that you know!

Jesus said that we are to abide and continue in His Word. How do you do that? By doing what the Word says to do. That’s your part. It’s in the doing of the Word that makes you free, not just knowing it.

Here’s a classic example. Knowing that Jesus paid the price for your sins so you don’t have to go to hell, but have a home in Heaven, does not get you saved. You have to do something with that knowledge – believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Just knowing about salvation does not get you saved! [Romans 10:9-10]

Another thing is that Jesus is the Word of God and when you believe and act on the Word, then Jesus makes you free. And you are free indeed!

John 8:36 (KJV) 36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Faith for Healing – Part XXVI

How to Hear and be Healed

Acts 28:26-27 (KJV) 26  Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
27  For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

These people heard the Word with their physical ears but not with their hearts. They were dull of hearing because they had closed their hearts to the truth of God’s Word and did not receive it with joy and gladness. It wasn’t precious and valuable to them! They didn’t honor the Word that was spoken to them. Therefore, they didn’t receive salvation or healing. How sad! But it doesn’t have to be that way for you. You can hear, receive, do the Word, and see your healing manifested.

Remember, if you don’t do what you can do, you’ll never do what you can’t do! Your part is to study, confess, and get the Word into your heart where it can develop and manifest healing.

Here’s another way of looking at it. When you speak the Word over and over, you begin to believe it. You don’t really believe it the first few times you confess it – maybe not even the first 50 times! This is believing with your head – mental assent, not heart believing.

Confessing God’s Word over and over and meditating on it at the same time, will eventually get it into your heart where you will finally believe it. Then, what seems like all of a sudden, you’ll get it, you’ll see it, and that’s when you’ve really got it! Then you’ll speak it forth with power and get the manifestation of your healing! Parise the Lord! [Meditating God’s Word is thinking about it, mulling it over and over.]

This does not happen overnight. It takes effort, a lot of effort, to stand in faith and keep standing ’til you see results. But it’s worth every minute, hour, day, week, etc. The Good News is that God is always faithful to do His part. You can count on it. That’s why you can stay encouraged every step of the way. God doing His part is a sure thing!

Are you willing to do your part? If so, the results are inevitable. Go for it and get your healing!

Galatians 6:9 (KJV) 9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
James 4:7 (KJV) 7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Faith for Healing – Part XXV

How to Hear and be Healed

Remember the woman with the issue of blood [Mark5:25-34]:

1-Hear and listen to the Word.

2- Receive the Word into your heart.

3-Do the Word and receive your healing.

Even though there was a multitude of people surrounding Jesus, the woman with the issue of blood was the one that got healed. Why didn’t the others? Because they didn’t hear, listen, receive and act on the Word that Jesus spoke. They were just spectators, never actively getting the Word into their hearts where it could activate faith for healing.

The woman’s faith activated the power of God that was in Jesus and that’s how she received her healing. Jesus even told her that it was her faith that healed her. Yes, it was His power! But if she hadn’t activated it with the touch of faith, she would not have received her healing.

James 2:17 (AMP) 17  So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).

Faith without corresponding action is dead faith and dead faith will not produce results! The woman acted on her faith, received her healing, and was made whole.

This means that you have to act in accordance with what you say you believe. That’s the works part. If you say you believe in healing, don’t talk sickness and disease. Talk healing. Confess the healing scriptures. Watch the words of your mouth and don’t let them trip you up!

Faith for Healing – Part XXIV

Head Knowledge vs. Heart Knowledge

Did you know there are two kinds of knowledge: head knowledge and heart knowledge?  Just as there are too realms we deal with, the spirit realm and the physical realm, there are different kinds of knowledge in each of those realms. When you first hear the Word, it gets into your head. Hopefully, you agree with it. This is called mental assent because you are mentally agreeing with what you have heard. You acknowledge that Word is true, but this is not heart knowledge and there’s no power in it.

To get heart knowledge you have to get the Word down into your spirit where it can develop by watering it with the Word itself. This is what we call renewing your mind. Meditate and confess it over and over. Then at some point, you’ll speak it forth with power and healing will manifest. This is awesome!

Ephesians 4:23 (KJV) 23  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Confession of the Word means to say the same things that God has said in His Word. You are agreeing with His Word when you confess it, speak it forth.

Remember, God always does His part. He will always do His part. But we have our part to do too. He won’t do our part and we can’t do His. Thankfully we are well able to do our part and enjoy the magnificent blessings of our Covenant that God so graciously gave us.

Every promise of God is for us. We can only get from God what He has already given in His Word. That’s why it’s so important that we know and value the Word. It’s our life-line!

Psalm 119:105 (KJV) 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:130 (KJV) 130  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 (KJV) 13  For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Proverbs 4:10 (KJV) 10  Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.

Faith for Healing – Part XXIII

Hear & be Healed

We hear a lot of things on a daily basis – traffic, people talking on their cell phones, radio, TV, etc. Noise, noise, and more noise! But as you know, just because we hear something doesn’t mean faith in God comes. Hearing the words of the devil will cause faith in his words to come to you! That’s not what you want. And just because you hear someone speak Scriptures, doesn’t mean faith comes. So what does HEAR really mean and what is it we need to hear?

Romans 10:17 (KJV) 17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We need to hear the anointed Word of God – the Rhema Christos. When you do hear the anointed Word, then faith comes if you’ll receive it. Think of a time when you heard some preaching and it was Scripture but it was so dry. That’s an example of preaching that’s not anointed even though the Word was spoken. There’s a difference. When you hear the anointed Word, it stirs you up and empowers you to believe that what God has said is true and then you can act on it.

When you hear the anointed Word, listen intently with your heart – not just with your physical ears. Absorb it, chew on it, and internalize it. Then as you continue to hear the anointed Word, it will get into your heart and develop and voilà – results!
