So, you prayed, you believed God, you stood on the Word – but no manifestation of your healing! What’s wrong? First of all, let me say that there’s no pat answer – one size fits all – because there are a number of hindrances that can interfere with your manifestation. Here are some:

There could be unbelief hindering you, your faith might not be developed to receive on your own, you could be in strife, unforgiveness, etc. All of these could be hindrances. But one thing for sure is that it’s not God’s fault. When you pray His Word in faith, God always answers immediately. Then it’s up to us to do the receiving. Remember there is always a God-part and a man-part.

Today I want to address another type of hindrance that can block your healing from manifesting. I call it the “long-standing illness” hindrance. Many times when people have been battling a sickness, disease, or infirmity for a long period of time, even years, they’ve adjusted to it and it has actually become a part of them.

They even identify with it: my diabetes, my heart problem, my allergies, my migraines, my high blood pressure, etc. In cases like these, they “see” themselves as sick or debilitated because they’ve been that way for so long. And here’s where the problem is – you can’t “see” yourself as sick and debilitated and believe for healing at the same time. Your negative image of yourself will block your faith, thus blocking you from receiving your healing.

So what should you do? First of all, in your mind’s eye, you have to see yourself well, going about doing the things you’d be doing if you weren’t in your current situation. All the meanwhile, you need to be confessing God’s Word for healing – the healing scriptures.

This sounds too simple, and it is, but it takes effort – a lot of effort because you have to renew your mind to a new way of seeing yourself. Remember, you’ve been seeing yourself as sick and infirm, so it will take some time to renew your mind.

I’ve experience this with people who confessed the Word for healing but still saw themselves in a sick position. These people are somewhat difficult to get healed but not because of God. He’s already provided the healing and it’s actually in our born-again spirit via the Holy Spirit. But in order for it to manifest in our physical bodies, we have to on purpose draw it out by our faith in God’s Word. And that’s where the effort comes in but it’s worth every minute.

Be sure you associate with true believers who can help you get on track and stay there and see the glorious manifestation of your healing! Glory to God!

1 Peter 3:10 (KJV) ¹⁰  For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
James 3:16 (KJV) ¹⁶  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
James 3:16 (AMP) ¹⁶  For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices.

The same way you get saved is the same way you get healed!

Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) ⁹  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
¹⁰  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Are you under God’s umbrella or out there with the curse being battered around?

If you’re not enjoying your Christianity, you’re not doing it right. We, of all people on the earth, should be the most joyful, confident, energetic people. But I challenge you to find Christians that exemplify these characteristics. Certainly not in most denominational churches and hardly in many non-denominational churches. Why is that?

It’s probably because they never got the memo that God isn’t mad at them and He’s not even in a bad mood. He’s our loving Father who is out for our good only. The fact that we’re on our way to Heaven and not hell should at least put a smile on our faces. Unfortunately, many Christians look like they’ve been baptized in lemon juice!

I remember way back as a young Christian, walking down the street to the store and someone passed me and told me to smile! I was somewhat taken back because I thought my joy was evident on my face. Guess not. It was a wake-up call for me to take inventory and be aware of how I was perceived by others.

Many times the only gospel others will read is us! So it behooves us to actually let the love of the Lord shine through us. We’re the salt of the earth and we have a responsibility to let our light shine for all to see the goodness of the Lord.

Now, getting back to the umbrella. If we stay under the Lord’s protection, we will save ourselves many heartaches because the only thing out there – out from under the Lord’s umbrella– is the curse and for sure we don’t want that in our lives. So how do we do this?

John 15:5 (KJV) ⁵  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 
John 15:7 (KJV) ⁷  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (AMP) ¹  IF YOU will listen diligently to the voice of the Lord your God, being watchful to do all His commandments which I command you this day, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
²  And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you if you heed the voice of the Lord your God.

Psalm 91:1-4 (KJV)
¹  He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
²  I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
³  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
⁴  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

The blessings are for those who abide in the Lord and do what He says to do – not make up your own rules. To abide means to take up residency, not just visit occasionally, as some do.

Notice the word buckler. A buckler is like a shield that wraps all around you to protect you. That’s what the truth of God’s Word does. It wraps around you to give you all the answers you need. BUT, in order for that to happen, you must first know the Word, not just be mildly acquainted with it! Study to show yourself approved unto God! Study, hear, confess, and do the Word and you’ll stay under the Lord’s umbrella.

Sometimes we get out from under the Lord’s protection due to our own ignorance and sin. Any kind of sin opens the door to the devil’s territory and his opportunity to clobber us. We need to walk in love, not strife, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, etc.

As I’ve said before, you can have as much or as little of God as you want. The choice is yours! Choose the Lord and His ways and live in victory!

Matthew 6:33 (KJV) ³³  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 (AMP) ³³  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Galatians 6:7 (KJV) ⁷  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7 (AMP) ⁷  Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.

Matthew 5:13-16 (KJV) ¹³  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
¹⁴  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
¹⁵  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
¹⁶  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Romans 2:4 (KJV) ⁴  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

We’ve all done it: we spoke before we stopped to think. Too many times that’s what happens when you engage your mouth before your brain has a chance to order your words. God’s Word is replete with admonitions about watching the words we speak.

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) ²¹  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

If people really believed that death and life are in the power of our tongues, they’d surely think before speaking. The problem is that most people, including Christians, don’t really pay much attention to what they say. But they should because speaking words is actually planting seeds since words are seeds, as we see in Mark 4 regarding the sower sows the word.

Genesis 8:22 (KJV) ²²  While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

We are all aware of the principle in the earth called seedtime and harvest. What we plant is what we’ll reap. If you plant tomato seeds, you shouldn’t be surprised when you get tomatoes instead of cucumbers. But people don’t seem to make that same connection when speaking.

If you speak negative words, you reap negative results. If you speak positive words, you reap positive results. You simply can’t speak negatively and expect to reap positive results. It just doesn’t happen that way.

I like what Dennis Burke says: If words can change my eternal destiny, then words can change my present circumstances. Why is that? Because there are two realms that we’re dealing with. The spirit realm and the physical realm. And as I’ve taught many times, the spirit realm is the parent force of the physical realm because the spirit realm created the physical realm. Therefore, the physical realm is subject to the spirit realm.  Praise the Lord for His awesome truth!

Now let’s look at another scripture in a few translations:

Galatians 6:7 (KJV) ⁷  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7 (AMP) ⁷  Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.
Galatians 6:7a (Phillips NT) ⁷ Don’t be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God! A man’s harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows. 

Here we see that whatever you sow, in this case we’re talking about the words you speak, that and that only will you reap. So what’s the bottom line? If you don’t like the way your life is going, change what you’ve been saying regarding your family, marriage, job, relationships, etc.

Your thoughts become words and your words become actions. By speaking God’s faith-filled Words, you can direct your life to flow with God and reap victory in every area and change your destiny.

Listen to yourself throughout the day and hear what you’ve been saying. Then practice the vocabulary of silence until you can trust the words that come out of your mouth. You’ll reap big rewards and won’t have to apologize as much!

Remember, once you say something, it’s said. You can’t unsay it. Even though you apologize, it has still been said and probably not forgotten very soon.

Ephesians 4:31-32 (AMP) ³¹  Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind).
³²  And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you.

Proverbs 16:24 (AMP) ²⁴  Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the mind and healing to the body.
Proverbs 14:17 (KJV) ¹⁷  He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
Proverbs 15:4 (AMP) ⁴  A gentle tongue [with its healing power] is a tree of life, but willful contrariness in it breaks down the spirit.

Proverbs 13:3 (KJV) ³  He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

What on earth are blanket prayers? Glad you asked because this is going to be an eye opener for some of you.

Too many times I’ve heard people pray prayers that I call blanket prayers. They’re praying all around the world but to no avail. When I hear this, I wonder to myself if they ever see results. But alas, I think not. Why? Because God has given us instructions on how and what to pray. Let’s look at some scriptures.

Acts 1:8 (KJV) ⁸  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Here we see that we’re to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Notice that you are to start where you live, then spread out. For example: first to your immediate area—family, friends, neighborhood, then city, then state, then nation, then to the uttermost parts of the earth. We each need to take responsibility for our own area. If everyone did that, what a difference it would make!

But as you know, we can’t all just get up and go out preaching to all parts of the earth. So what do we do? We send those who are called to that vocation and we support them. And when we do, God says that we get part of the same reward they get. That’s what happened to David’s men. Not all the men went to battle. Some stayed back and protected the homeland.  But they still got part of the spoil.

1 Samuel 30:24 (KJV) ²⁴  For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.

It’s the same with us. We support those who are called to go and preach but we get part of their reward.

That’s why you can’t just throw up a prayer like, “Lord, save the whole world!” It might make you feel good but it does nothing. That’s because we’re not told to pray that way in the Word of God. If we could, Paul and the disciples would have prayed that way and didn’t have to actually go and preach the Word.

Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) ¹⁹  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
²⁰  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Matthew 28:19 (AMP) ¹⁹  Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Matthew 28:19 (YLT) ¹⁹  having gone, then, disciple all the nations, (baptizing them–to the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

We see here that we’re told to teach all nations – not just to make converts. We are to make disciples of all nations and that means teaching them the Word of God, not just have them say the salvation prayer and throw them back to the wolves!

Now let’s look at another example of praying.

Mark 11:22-24 (KJV) ²²  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
²³  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
²⁴  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Here we see that Jesus is telling us to specifically speak to the problem and tell it to go! We’re not to doubt in our heart but believe that what we say will come to pass. Next we’re to believe that we receive when we pray.

You see, we can’t receive for someone else. We can pray for them to be healed, delivered, and to receive but we cannot do the receiving for them. That’s why blanket prayers don’t work unless the whole group we’re praying for is receiving. [In the case of children and incapacitated people, those are a different kind of case.]

Yes, I know people pray the wrong way a lot but what kind of results are they getting? Perhaps just feeling like they’re doing something is all they want. Maybe they really aren’t expecting any results because they haven’t gotten results before. I like results and always expect results when I pray in faith according to God’s Word!

So what am I saying in all this? Prayer is definitely good and we should pray for others. But if you want to get results, pray for those within your realm of influence and as the Holy Spirit leads. If you do this in faith, you will have more results and get blessed doing it. One of the best encouragers is answered prayer.

Remember, we can’t just shoot up any ol’ kind of pray and hope it works. Pray in faith, according to God’s promises, and you’ll get your desired results!

Justice—due reward in accordance with honor, standards, or law

Mercy – compassionate treatment

Oh how we should want mercy instead justice! So many today are screaming that they want justice for things that have happened in the past when they should be so grateful that they don’t get justice. What we really want is mercy because no one is without sin. No one has done everything right no matter how good they think they are.

If we ever got the justice we deserve, we’d all be on our way to hell with no hope of redemption. BUT JESUS!

Yes, Jesus made a way for us to obtain the mercy of God and thereby the hope of eternal life through His sacrifice on Calvary. The Blood of Jesus forever satisfied the claims of justice and stamped ACCEPTED by the Supreme Court of the universe.

But, more than mercy is the Love of God, which is the very reason for His mercy. His love is so different from human, natural love because it’s unconditional love – the agapé love of God. If we’d all walk in His love, according to I Cor. 13, there would be no need for laws in the land because everyone would treat each other the right way. But alas, that’s just not so in the world.

However, we as the body of Christ, the Church, can operate in the God-kind of love and live a life worth living on planet earth. What a glorious place this would be! And the good part is that when we do, it’s the goodness of God working through us that leads people to repentance.

Romans 2:4b (KJV) ⁴  … not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (AMP) ⁴  Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
⁵  It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
⁶  It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
⁷  Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
⁸  Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

What we see in these verses is how God acts and since we’re created in His image, that’s how we’re to act! Praise the Lord of Glory for His mercy and grace to walk in His ways and fulfill His plans and purposes for our lives.

So, what’s the difference between right and wrong praying? Isn’t praying simply praying? No, no, no!

Trying to get the right results the wrong way, won’t cut it. God has set things up in His Word so that we can get the right results every time. BUT, and I say but, we have to do it according to His way, not what we think.

Too many times, in fact, most of the time when I bring up praying the right way it hits a nerve in people and they get very defensive. Most will say, “God knows what I mean!” Yes, that’s true but it doesn’t get the job done and how’s that working for you?

It’s so counter-productive that you’d think they’d be open to doing things that would get the right results. You see, praying the wrong way, and not getting the desired results, causes discouragement and after doing this over a period of time, the people conclude that they really can’t expect results. So, why do they keep praying, thinking that they probably won’t get their answers? Because praying makes them feel like they’ve done something.

It reminds me of those who pray eloquent prayers that are completely void of faith. Everyone feels better because of the eloquence but there’s no manifestation of results.

Let me give you some examples:

If you need deliverance and you pray asking God to get the devil off your back and stop annoying you, that’s a wrong way to pray. The Word says we are to resist the devil and he will flee from us. We are never told to ask God to do it. He’s already given us the authority and power over the devil and our job is to simply do it!

Genesis 1:28 (KJV) ²⁸  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

James 4:7 (KJV) ⁷  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV) ⁸  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
⁹  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

And what about healing? If we pray and ask God to heal us, that’s wrong praying! Why? Because He’s already healed us! Now our part is to simply receive what He’s already given. When Jesus went to the Cross, He not only paid the price for our sins, but for our healing also. We don’t have to ask for healing, we simply receive what God has already given.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV) ⁴  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
⁵  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Matthew 8:17 (KJV) ¹⁷  That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

I’ve seen too many times that people just want to pray any ol’ way they want and don’t get results, especially with healing. I’ve seen people die because they wouldn’t believe God’s way. I say that because it’s always God’s will to be healed – always, always, always!

Here’s something to think about: when you think you know everything there is to know about healing, deliverance, prosperity, etc., you cut yourself off from further revelation that can enlighten you to the Truth of God’s Word that you don’t know.

This reminds me of trying play football using baseball rules. It won’t work. Let’s just do things God’s way and live the victorious life that He has planned for us and show forth His goodness for all to see.

Romans 4:17 (KJV) ¹⁷  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Isaiah 46:10a (KJV) ¹⁰  Declaring the end from the beginning…    

Just what does it mean to call things that are not as though they were? It means to say what you want. Confess the promise that you want to manifest in your life. And that’s exactly why God changes Abram’s name to Abraham.

Romans 4:19-21 (KJV) ¹⁹  And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:
²⁰   He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
²¹  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

In order for God to get Abram to speak His Words, He changed Abram’s name to Abraham, which means father of many nations. That way, when anyone wanted to get Abraham’s attention, they simply called out to him. But what Abraham heard each time was father of many nations! This began to build faith in Abraham and shortly after that, Isaac – the promised child – was born.

God always speaks what He wants; He calls the end from the beginning by calling things that are not as though they were.

Genesis 1:1-3 (KJV) ¹  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
²  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
³  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

When God wanted light, He called for it by saying, “Light be!” He did not say, “Wow, it’s dark out there!” That wouldn’t have gotten His desired results.

Genesis 1:26 (KJV) ²⁶  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

It’s the same thing with Adam. How was Adam supposed to take dominion over the earth? The same way that God takes dominion – with his words. Adam was created in the image of God and was to act the way God would act – by speaking words.

Ephesians 5:1 (KJV) ¹  Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Ephesians 5:1 (AMP) ¹  THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].

It’s the same way with Mark 11:22-24.

Mark 11:22-24 (KJV) ²²  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
²³  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
²⁴  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Whatever it is that we desire from the Lord, we’re to call for those things by speaking forth God’s Word in faith. Everything we desire has to line up with His Word. It’s not that the things don’t exist; it’s just that they’re in the spirit realm.

Your faith begins where the will of God is known and will never rise higher than the amount of Word in your heart. And since faith is voice activated, your faith will never rise than your faith-filled confession of God’s Word.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)
²⁰  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

All the promises of God are for us but we have to access them according to God’s laws of faith and confession. We need to call those things that are in the spirit realm into the physical realm by the bridge of our faith. Then we will see our desired results!

So you’ve heard that words are important because I mention it often. But let’s dig a little deeper into just why this is of paramount importance. And we’ll start with Mark 11:22-24.

Mark 11:22-24 (KJV) ²²  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
²³  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
²⁴  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 11:22 (YLT) ²²  And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God;

Verse 22 in the Young’s Literal Translation (YLT) says that we are to have the faith of God – the God-kind of faith. Wow, if only we could have the God-kind of faith! And here’s the Good News: if we’re born-again, we really do have the God-kind of faith.

Galatians 2:20 (KJV) ²⁰  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 12:3b (KJV) ³  … according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Notice that each of us has been given the same measure of faith- not more or less than anyone else. It’s just that some are more developed that others in operating in that faith. And since we all start out with the same measure – the God-kind of faith, let’s find out what that kind of faith is and how to operate in it.

You see, we don’t need more faith as some think. We don’t have to ask God to give us more faith because He’s already given THE measure of faith to each of us. That being said, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of what do we do now.

First of all, in order to operate in the God-kind of faith, we need to know some things about what faith is and how it works. Similarly, if you wanted to operate in electricity, you’d have to know how it operates. And just as electricity has laws that govern its operation, so does faith. That may come as a surprise because most Christians think that you either have faith or you don’t. But that thinking never gets the job done.

Simply stated, faith is believing what God has said (His word) and then acting on it – like it’s actually true! Another definition is Andrew Wommack’s definition: faith is our positive response to what God has already given us by His grace.

Now we come to the laws that govern how faith works. If you don’t adhere to the laws, your faith won’t work and you won’t get your desired results.

Romans 3:27 (KJV) ²⁷  Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Paul calls faith a law and this is to our advantage because a law works the same way every time. It’s not hit or miss with laws. Just like the law of gravity works whether it’s hot, cold, rainy, or sunny unless it’s superseded by a higher law.

It’s the same with electricity. There are laws that govern how electricity work and when you obey those laws, you do well. But if you violate those laws, it could be very dangerous and even deadly.

Now, what about faith. Here are some of the laws that govern how faith works:

1 – Faith is voice activated; it speaks! You have to speak your faith. You can’t just think faith and expect results. You can’t just think healing and get results.

Mark 11:23 (KJV) ²³  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Notice that saying is mentioned three times. We have to speak our faith if we want results. That means speaking the Word of God over the situation.

2 – Faith believes. Faith does not doubt (in your heart) but believes what it speaks and says.

3 – Faith doesn’t waver.

James 1:6-8 (KJV) ⁶  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
⁷  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
⁸  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

If you waver back and forth between believing and not believing, your faith won’t work because it will be cancelled out. You need to take your stand on God’s Word and don’t be moved off it. You can call this bulldog faith!

4 – Faith receives. It receives what has been spoken in faith according to God’s Word.

Mark 11:24 (KJV) ²⁴  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Romans 4:17b (KJV) ¹⁷  …  even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

And that’s why your words are so important because your words determine your destiny. They determine what you get.

Psalm 141:3 (KJV) ³  Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Galatians 6:7 (KJV) ⁷  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7 (Phillips NT) ⁷ Don’t be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God! A man’s harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows.

Remember, we’re like magnets – drawing to us things that we speak. We need to seriously guard what comes out of our mouths. Listen to yourself and say, “Is that what I want to come to pass?” never say these things:

— Knock yourself out!

— Bite your tongue!

— That blows me away!

— That blows my mind!

— That cracks me up!

— That breaks my heart!

— That makes my skin crawl!

— That kills me!

— I love him/her to death!

— Nothing ever works out for me!

— Just when we seem to get ahead, something happens!

— Etc., etc., etc.

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)
²¹  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 4:20-24 (KJV)
²⁰  My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
²¹  Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
²²  For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
²³  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
²⁴  Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

I think you get the point. The world, with its ungodly evil ways and language, has so programmed people that they say things that they never should say, not knowing how powerful our words are.

When God told Adam to take dominion and subdue the earth, how do you think he was supposed to do that? The same way that God does – with words! And since we’re created in His image, that’s how we’re supposed to operate in faith.

²⁸  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Brothers and sisters, we have so much victory in us that needs to get our by using our faith-filled words and speaking God’s uncompromised Word to effect a change in our circumstances, environment, and then in our world.

Acts 3:6 (KJV) ⁶  Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

This is the account of Peter and John when they were headed into the temple and encountered the crippled man begging for alms. Notice what Peter said. What did he mean? What was it that he had and was willing to give to the crippled man? It was the Name of Jesus!  How was this going to help the man?

Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) ⁹  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a [the]name which is above every name: ¹⁰  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; ¹¹  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philemon 1:6 (KJV) ⁶  That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

I want you to notice that the Name that was given to Jesus is the Name above EVERY name that is named. That means the Name of Jesus is greater than the man’s affliction of paralysis. It also means that the Name of Jesus is greater than every sickness and disease that you might encounter: cancer, diabetes, heart problems, immune disorders, etc. – no exceptions!

Either the Name of Jesus is truly above and greater than every sickness, disease, affliction, problem – or it’s not above any!

Too many times, in fact most of the time, people categorize sickness and disease into little problems, medium problems, and gigantic problems. But not so with God. All problems are the same to Him because He is above all of them. We think that if they’re too big for us, they must be too big for God! How utterly offensive that must be to God when Jesus paid the ultimate price for our deliverance from all sickness and disease!

We need to remember Who God is and how powerful He is. He’s the One Who created the universe and everything else. Now that’s power to the max!

Then on the other hand, we need to remember that Jesus said if we had faith the size of a mustard seed, we could remove a mountain and cast a tree into the sea!

Matthew 17:20b (KJV) ²⁰  …  I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 
Luke 17:6 (KJV) ⁶  And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

Anything that’s been bought and paid for is no longer an issue unless we make it one. Our sicknesses and diseases were dealt with at the same time our sins were – on the Cross. We need to get a revelation of this and rejoice in what our gracious Heavenly Father has done for us through the Blood of Jesus.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) ²⁴  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

It’s criminal to say that God gets some kind of pleasure from sickness and disease or that He is trying to teach us something! Those thoughts are abominable!

Brothers and sisters, we are a people most blessed and we have a Heavenly Father Who has so provided for us that we really have no need of anything. We just need to know how to receive His benefits and walk in the victory that He’s provided. That’s what I am endeavoring to teach in my blogs.  

Psalm 103:2-3 (KJV) ²  Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
³  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Matthew 6:33 (AMP) ³³  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

2 Peter 1:3 (KJV) ³  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

What more could God do when He’s already done everything? We need to get into His Word and find out all that’s been given to us so that we can be the blessing we’re to be to a sick and dying world.

Yes, dear brothers and sisters, we really do have spiritual authority and that authority is what we use to overcome the enemy and all his evil ways and plans against us. But, what happens to those who are unaware of their spiritual authority? They’re open target for the devil to clobber them and kick out their spiritual brains and that isn’t funny!

Before we go on, let me define spiritual authority. It’s the authority that Jesus gave to us before He ascended back to Heaven. It’s the authority He gave us to rule and reign on this earth so that we really can be the head and not the tail, above and not beneath.

It’s the power of the Holy Spirit that we receive when we get the baptism with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues. But, and I say but, you can’t use what you don’t know you have. Let’s talk about this.

Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) ¹⁸  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
¹⁹  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
²⁰  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Acts 1:8 (KJV) ⁸  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The word power in Matt. 28:18 is the Greek word exousia which means authority. The word power in Acts 1:8 is the Greek word dunamis which means explosive power. This means that Jesus gave us power and authority to go and do what He has commissioned us to do and that’s to preach the Gospel – the Good News that Jesus has already paid the price for all our sins and made a way for us to get back into relationship with our Heavenly Father.  And we need His power and authority to accomplish what He’s called us to do. We have an enemy and we need spiritual weapons to enforce his defeat.

John 14:12 (KJV) ¹²  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jesus never intended for us to do the works  that He did by ourselves. He has given us His name:

Here’s how we use our spiritual authority:

We are to bind the devil and resist him in the Name of Jesus and he will flee, which means run in terror. Know this: the devil and his cohorts are terrified of those who know their spiritual authority and walk in it. Yes, he tries to deceive us and get us to back off of God’s Word, but if we don’t, we win! It’s really as simple as that. Simple, yes but it takes effort and diligence to stick with it. But if we do, we’ll see the victory.

John 16:24 (KJV) ²⁴  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

The word ask means to demand. That means we make a demand on the promises of God, not on Him. We command the promises to manifest, to come into being. When we rebuke and resist the devil, we expect to see results.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) ⁷  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

When we know and walk in our spiritual authority that the Lord has ordained for us, we won’t fear because we’ll know the truth and that truth that we know and walk in will make us free! Praise the Lord of Glory!

James 4:7 (KJV) ⁷  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV) ⁸  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: ⁹  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Mark 16:17-18 (KJV) ¹⁷  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Matthew 10:8 (KJV) ⁸  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
