Whose Report Will You Believe?

Romans 10:16 (KJV) 16  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

There are always at least two reports that confront you any time you have to make a decision.  In any given situation, we always have the choice of whether to believe what our senses say, or to believe what God has already said in His Word.

Sense knowledge is knowledge based on the five physical senses: what you can see, hear, taste, smell, or feel. Spirit knowledge – the God-kind of knowledge or Revelation knowledge – is the knowledge that you get from God and His Word. So far so good? Keep reading.

Yes, of course, we need sense knowledge to function in this world because we are human beings. But, sense knowledge is not the do-all, end-all of everything. Remember, there are two realms that we deal with: the physical realm and the spirit realm. The spirit realm is the higher realm because it created the physical realm.

Continuing on. To be led by the physical senses only, is to set yourself up for defeat because the Word says to be carnally minded (senses ruled) is death. God can’t be much clearer than that. But He also says to be spiritually minded is life and peace. And isn’t that what we want?

So, how do we be spiritually-minded instead of sense-ruled? Simply by seeking God’s way of doing things instead of the world’s way. I like to say it this way: The Word of God has to be the “benchmark” for all you do. Whenever a situation or circumstance confronts you, always go to the Word – what does God have to say about this thing? He knew about your situation before it even confronted you. He’s already got it covered.

God has so graciously provided everything we’ll ever need on planet earth for us to be victorious. But, our part is to seek out His way of doing things and then DO IT! Just knowing the answer won’t get results. You actually have to DO IT!

Remember, God is our loving Father, out for our good, and He is faithful, faithful, faithful!

Romans 8:6-9 (KJV) 6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9  But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Matthew 6:33 (AMP) 33  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

Even Horses have Good Sense!

My husband told me an interesting story that happened years ago when he lived in upstate NY. He, his father, and brother went to a horse auction where his father purchased four beautiful horses.

When they arrived home, they drove up to the barn, opened the door, and turned on the lights. Having set up the ramp for the horses to exit, they then opened the door of the truck. But, much to their surprise, instead of walking down the ramp to the barn, the horses leaped over everyone and took off into the dark of night!

Well, as you can imagine, everyone was quite upset, even the truck driver, as he had never before seen that happen.

What to do? Everyone was exhausted from the days’ activities and decided the best thing to do was go to bed and get some rest. Trying to corral runaway horses in the middle of the night didn’t seem like the better part of wisdom.

So, Jim’s father put out some oats, left the barn door open and the lights on, hoping the horses would find their way back.

In the morning, lo and behold, all four horses had returned, safe, sound, and content to be where they should be. They followed the light and found their way home.

So, what’s the lesson here? Jesus is the Word of God, the Son of God, the Light of the world, and the Bright and Morning Star. When we follow the Light of the world, Jesus, by following His Word, we too will arrive at the place we’re to be.

Even sunflowers follow the sun throughout the day. We follow the Son!  There’s a message here for all to see. If you aren’t following Jesus, the Light of the world, the only other thing out there is darkness. Which will you follow?

John 8:12 (KJV) 12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Deuteronomy 30:19(KJV) 19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

We Don’t Know Everything!

It should be obvious that we don’t know everything, so why do we think we have to know everything? We don’t understand all there is about electricity but we still use lamps, microwaves, and ACs in our homes. Not understanding how they all work, doesn’t stop us from using them. Right? We even fly in planes and to our amazement, they get off the ground!

So what’s the point? Too many times people try to figure out HOW God is going to answer their prayer requests before they step out in faith. This might not seem like a bad thing but the down side is that if they can’t figure it out, then they “think” that God can’t do it!

Since when does our mind even compare to the awesome wisdom of God? There’s a whole realm – the spirit realm – that our minds can’t wrap around. We live in the physical realm, where our senses dominate. But God lives and operates out of the spirit realm, which is way beyond our minds. (Remember, God is a Spirit and that’s how we contact Him – spirit to Spirit – John 4:24.)

Romans 8:7 (KJV) 7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

You don’t have to know how God is going to do what you have asked Him to do before you can use your faith to receive the promises He’s given. Trying to figure it all out before you will believe is called reasoning. And the drawback to reasoning is that the more you reason, the farther away from the supernatural you go. That’s not good and that’s not faith!

Galatians 5:16(KJV) 16  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Walking by your reasoning is walking in the flesh – your five physical senses. Walking by your flesh is being carnally minded and that leads to death. But to be spiritually minded is to walk by faith in God and His Word and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. That’s life and peace.

Romans 8:6(KJV) 6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

So, just as you don’t have to know how electricity works to partake of its benefits, so it is with faith in the Word of God and His promises. His Word always works!

1 Kings 8:56b (KJV)56  … there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

You’re More that a Number on a Scale!

Some of you might say, “Of course!” But others will know exactly what I’m saying. It all depends on how you view yourself.

Who are you, really? Do you get up in the morning, weigh yourself, and then let your weight set the tone for the rest of your day? Sad to say, many do exactly that! And it’s not just the scale that dictates to us, but the mirror too: too fat, too skinny, too plain, too bald, etc. This has to change!

So, how do we change? How do we not let our looks dictate our attitude? That’s what I’m going to address and, hopefully, help those who only see through the eyes of their bathroom scale and mirror.

Let’s start with who we really are. How do we even know who we really are? Well, that part is easy – we are who God says we are. You can’t get any better than that! But, the problem lies not in who God says we are, but who we perceive we are.

Unfortunately, our perception is colored, and many times determined, by how other people perceive us. Too often we let the world define us instead of our loving Heavenly Father, Whose we are and Whom we serve.

The Word of God says that we are the apple of God’s eye (Ps. 17:8; Zech.2:8) and that He loves us with an everlasting love (Jer.31:3). He said He would never leave us nor forsake us (Heb. 13:5), that we’re in His family for all eternity (Eph. 3:14-15), and He holds us in the palm of His hand (Isa. 49:16 Amp.)!

Continuing on, God’s Word tells us that we are in right standing with Him (1 Cor. 1:30) through the Blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7), and that He’s given us power and authority over all the power of the devil and nothing by any means shall hurt us (Luke 10:19). And that’s just the tip of the ol’ proverbial iceberg!

God tells us in His Word that He loves us with the same love that He loves Jesus (John 17:23) and that we even have the faith of Jesus (Gal. 2:20) residing in us. Wow! We can’t lose because we’re more than conquerors through the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 8:37)!

Of course, all of the above is contingent upon your being born-again, having made Jesus your Lord and Savior (John 3:3, 7). But that’s easy to do because it’s God’s free gift to us. All we have to do is accept His free gift of Jesus to us (Rom. 10:9-10).

Summing it up, we are more than the number on the bathroom scale or what the mirror reflects. Of course, we want to look good and do the best we can with what we have but you can’t have a relationship with a person’s physique. We have a relationship with people who are made up of personalities, attitudes, thoughts, emotions, dreams, visions, desires, etc. – not with good looks, bad looks, fat, skinny, tall, short, hairy or bald.

We are what God says we are and He’s the One Who counts because He’s the One we’ll spend all eternity with. Praise the Lord for His unspeakable gift of – Jesus – and His loving kindness to us!

Don’t Let Your Past Dictate Your Future

[I encourage you to avail yourself of over 500 blogs on my website. I believe they will be a blessing to you.]

Some people don’t need their enemies to beat them up because they do a good job of it themselves. How many times have we punished ourselves mentally because of our past mistakes? Too many, I’d say.

First of all, when we get born-again, all of our past is forgiven – wiped cleaned. Our sins are remitted which means that they are forever gone and forgotten by God.

Psalm 103:12 (KJV) 12  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Secondly, when we sin after we’re born-again, we confess our sins and God is just and righteous to forgive us by the Blood of Jesus.

1 John 1:7 (KJV) 7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1 John 1:9 (KJV) 9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

So, what’s our problem? It’s the devil who condemns us and tries to keep our past mistakes in the forefront of our minds. We need to recognize that it’s him and not blame God. God is not the One Who is telling us we’re so unworthy and such a failure. God is on our side and He’s rooting for us! We are His special treasure!

Malachi 3:17 (KJV)17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. [Margin says special treasure.]

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, the born-again ones. God doesn’t condemn you and He’s the One Who counts!

Romans 8:1 (KJV) 1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

If you continue to let your past condemn you, you will hinder the plans and purposes God has for you. Everyone makes mistakes and misses it. You can’t live on planet earth without missing the goal sometime or other. The point is that you must confess the mistake, forgive yourself, receive forgiveness, and get back up and go forward. Why listen to the devil when he’s a liar and is out to steal, kill, and destroy? Jesus came to give you abundant life to enjoy. Enjoy it!

Proverbs 24:16a (KJV) 16  For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again John 10:10 (KJV) 10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

How Can You be Upset When You have the Solution?

Why is it that we, as humans, get upset first, and then look for the solution to our problems? Wouldn’t it be wiser to go to the solution and then rest in that? The answer, of course, is yes!

So, where are these “solutions” that we have available to us? You guessed it – God’s Word! Why would our heavenly Father, Who loves us with an everlasting love, expect us to go through this life on planet earth, left to our own devices and solutions? He wouldn’t and He hasn’t. Everything we’ll ever need to be successful and victorious has already been provided for us!

Yes, God has so graciously provided for our every need in His Word. That’s His part. Our part is to receive that Word and walk in it. Let me give you a few examples:

For our sins, He bore them on the Cross.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) 24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed

For sickness, He has already healed us by the stripes of Jesus.

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes

1 Peter 2:24b (KJV) 24…by whose stripes ye were healed.

Mark 16:18 (KJV) 18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

For poverty, Jesus became poor so that we might become rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV) 9  For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Psalm 84:11 (KJV) 11  For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV) 33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Philippians 4:19 (KJV) 19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

For deliverance, He has given us His Name so that we can resist the devil and he will flee.

James 4:7 (KJV) 7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Philippians 2:9-10 (KJV) 9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

John 14:13-14 (KJV)13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. [The word ask means demand. We demand the devil to leave in the Name of Jesus.]

For spiritual death, He has given us eternal life through the Lord Jesus.

John 3:3 (KJV) 3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 1:12 (KJV) 12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) 9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We have the Blood of Jesus, the Name of Jesus, the faith of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the whole armor of God, and the angels. Plus all of Heaven backs us when we stand on the Word of God in faith and declare His truth over every situation.

Hebrews 13:5b (KJV) 5  … I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Numbers 23:19 (KJV) 19  God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Redeemed from What? Part II

Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV) 4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) 24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Secondly, in addition to redeeming us from our sins, Jesus, at the same time, redeemed us from sickness and disease. God the Father laid all of our sicknesses and diseases on Jesus. He was wounded for our transgressions and by His stripes we were healed. Every foul, wicked, demon of sickness and disease was laid upon Jesus so that we could be redeemed from all that sickness and disease. We don’t have to tolerate it anymore. We can walk completely free from every sickness and disease that has plagued mankind. Our well-being has been bought with the precious blood of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. He bore it so that we don’t have to bear it. Let’s gird up our loins and walk in the divine health that belongs to us!

Thirdly, Jesus died spiritually. This means he was completely separated from the Father. That’s what spiritual death is. We are spirit beings in a flesh body. Our spirits will never die but they can be separated from our Heavenly Father and that’s called spiritual death. That’s what happens to those who die physically without Jesus. They also die spiritually – separated from God the Father for all eternity. When Jesus cried out, “Why hast Thou forsaken Me?” – that was the ultimate part of the Redemption.

Luke 22:42 (KJV)42  Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Jesus had always been with the Father – eternally and not ever separated. In the Garden, He asked if that cup could pass from Him. It was the most profound question of all eternity. If God would have agreed, we all would be lost. And remember, Jesus always got His prayers answered. But, thank the Lord, Jesus continued with, “Nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done!” It was the separation from the Father that gripped Him; nothing else compared to it. But He accepted all that had to be done to purchase our redemption and bring us back into relationship with our Father God.

Jesus’ sacrifice, His substitutionary sacrifice, was a complete redemption. We are completely delivered from Satan’s dominion and his demonic ways: sin, sickness, and spiritual death.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) 4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Now, we have our part to do in enforcing Satan’s defeat. We must stand our ground against his wiles and trickery or he will beat out our spiritual brains. He lies, cheats, steals, destroys, and deceives trying to get us to back off of our faith stand and side in with him. Don’t do it!

You have been given all the spiritual weapons you’ll ever need to stand firm in your Redemption. Jesus already paid for it. Now you must walk in it if you want to live a victorious life. You have been given: the Blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Name of Jesus, Angelic protection, the Word of God, the armor of God, the Faith of Jesus.

With these weapons, you are guaranteed to succeed, to prosper, and to live a life worth living. God is on your side and all of Heaven is rooting for you. Go for it!

We have been made righteous in God’s eyes. This means we can stand in His presence without any sense of sin-consciousness, inferiority, or condemnation. All glory to our good and faithful God!

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) 16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) 17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) 16  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) 4  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Galatians 4:4 (KJV) 4  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Philippians 2:5-9 (KJV) 5   Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:7  But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Redeemed from What? Part I

When you receive a gift card, how do you use it? You redeem it at the appropriate store. When you receive a check, what do you do? You redeem it at the bank.

So, what does it mean that Jesus redeemed us? Just what is Redemption? Most Christians will acknowledge that they are redeemed but when you question them as to what that means, what is the answer?

To redeem means to buy back; to turn in and receive something in exchange. An example would be store coupons. With the coupons, you receive a certain amount of money deducted from the payment of your purchase.

When Adam sinned, we lost our right standing with God. The whole human race was plunged into darkness, headed for eternal damnation. But God, in His infinite wisdom and foreknowledge, had a plan already in place. He would send a “Redeemer” to buy back what had been lost. He would, through Jesus, redeem mankind from sin, sickness, and spiritual death.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) 30  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Now, if you’ve been a Christian for any length of time, you’ve probably heard this. But do you know the magnitude of what actually happened?

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) 21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

When Jesus went to the Cross, He redeemed us from sin by becoming sin for us. He not only took our sins on His pure, sinless Spirit, but He actually became that horrible sin. He was made sin! Pure and holy as He was, He was made sin – the evil, demonic, filth of this world, the very nature of Satan, so that we could become righteous in the eyes of our Father God, having no sense of sin-consciousness, inferiority, or condemnation.

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) 16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The only way Jesus could have died was to be made sin for us. Heretofore, He had no sin in Himself. Sin is what causes death. So, when He took our sins on Himself, He died. He paid the total price for our Redemption so that we don’t have to pay it.

But it’s our choice. We can receive what He has done for us or reject it. In the final analysis, we will have no excuse for where we end up – Heaven or hell – because it’s our choice. We need to make the right choice and choose God’s way of salvation by accepting what Jesus did for us as our Savior and make Him our Lord. Then we can all rejoice together in heaven for all eternity!

How Many Sins Will Keep You Out of Heaven?

Which sins are the really bad ones – adultery, murder, theft? What about lying, gossip, criticism, and judging others? H-m-m . . . let’s see what God has to say.

James 2:10 (KJV) 10  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

The Law has to do with what God has commanded us to do. In James we see that if we commit just one sin, we’re guilty of all sins. That’s why Jesus went to the Cross because we couldn’t be perfect and sinless. Only He could and is.

Every sin we commit makes us guilty of all sins. That’s what God said. So what do we do? I’m glad you asked because that’s not the problem.

It’s not our various sins that keep us out of Heaven because Jesus paid the price for those sins. In fact, He paid the price for everyone’s sins – past, present, and future. But, we have to receive what He did or we’re still in our sins. It’s not automatic that everyone gets saved. It’s a choice, an individual choice.

Now, back to the original question: How many sins will keep you out of Heaven? The answer is: one! But you have to know which one it is. There’s only one sin that will keep you out of Heaven and send you to hell: the sin of not accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior!

It was never God’s intention that humans go to hell. He wants everyone to get saved.

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Once you’re born-again, you’ve become a new creation, not just a new and improved version of your old self! And even though the penalty for sins has been paid, you still need to repent when you sin. You need to live a life that’s pleasing to the Lord. And you can do it!

Which Truth Will Make You Free?

You’ve heard it over and over, the truth shall make you free.  I’ve heard it on TV programs. I’ve even heard unsaved, non-believers say it. But what does it really mean? Does the truth itself make you free? Let’s go to God’s Word and find out.

John 8:32 (KJV) 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

This is Jesus speaking, saying that the truth shall make you free. But, hold on. There’s a danger in taking something out of context. So, let’s back up to the previous verse.

John 8:31-32(KJV) 31  Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Notice that Jesus said if you continue in His Word, you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.  But that’s still not all there is to it.

For example, if you’re in debt and someone deposits money into your bank account, are you debt free? No! You still have to withdraw the money and pay off your debts. You have your part to do. Just knowing something is not what makes you free. What makes you free, is walking in the truth that you know!

Jesus said that we are to abide and continue in His Word. How do you do that? By doing what the Word says to do. That’s your part. It’s in the doing of the Word that makes you free, not just knowing it.

Here’s a classic example. Knowing that Jesus paid the price for your sins so you don’t have to go to hell, but have a home in Heaven, does not get you saved. You have to do something with that knowledge – believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Just knowing about salvation does not get you saved! [Romans 10:9-10]

Another thing is that Jesus is the Word of God and when you believe and act on the Word, then Jesus makes you free. And you are free indeed!

John 8:36 (KJV) 36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
