What Does it Mean to Call Things That are Not as Though They Were!

Romans 4:17 (KJV) 17  (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Isaiah 46:10a (KJV) 10  Declaring the end from the beginning…

Just what does it mean to call things that are not as though they were? It means to say what you want. Confess the promise that you want to manifest in your life. And that’s exactly why God changes Abram’s name to Abraham.

Romans 4:19-21 (KJV) 19  And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:
20   He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21  And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

In order for God to get Abram to speak His Words, He changed Abram’s name to Abraham, which means father of many nations. That way, when anyone wanted to get Abraham’s attention, they simply called out to him. But what Abraham heard each time was father of many nations! This began to build faith in Abraham and shortly after that, Isaac – the promised child – was born.

God always speaks what He wants; He calls the end from the beginning by calling things that are not as though they were.

Genesis 1:1-3 (KJV) 1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

When God wanted light, He called for it by saying, “Light be!” He did not say, “Wow, it’s dark out there!” That wouldn’t have gotten His desired results.

Genesis 1:26 (KJV) 26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

It’s the same thing with Adam. How was Adam supposed to take dominion over the earth? The same way that God takes dominion – with his words. Adam was created in the image of God and was to act the way God would act – by speaking words.

Ephesians 5:1 (KJV) 1  Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Ephesians 5:1 (AMP) 1  THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].

It’s the same way with Mark 11:22-24.

Mark 11:22-24 (KJV) 22  And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Whatever it is that we desire from the Lord, we’re to call for those things by speaking forth God’s Word in faith. Everything we desire has to line up with His Word. It’s not that the things don’t exist; it’s just that they’re in the spirit realm.

Your faith begins where the will of God is known and will never rise higher than the amount of Word in your heart. And since faith is voice activated, your faith will never rise than your faith-filled confession of God’s Word.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)
20  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

All the promises of God are for us but we have to access them according to God’s laws of faith and confession. We need to call those things that are in the spirit realm into the physical realm by the bridge of our faith. Then we will see our desired results!

Why, Oh Why, Do I Have to Watch My Words?

So you’ve heard that words are important because I mention it often. But let’s dig a little deeper into just why this is of paramount importance. And we’ll start with Mark 11:22-24.

Mark 11:22 (YLT) 22  And Jesus answering saith to them, `Have faith of God;

Verse 22 in the Young’s Literal Translation (YLT) says that we are to have the faith of God – the God-kind of faith. Wow, if only we could have the God-kind of faith! And here’s the Good News: if we’re born-again, we really do have the God-kind of faith.

Galatians 2:20 (KJV) 20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 12:3b (KJV) 3  … according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Notice that each of us has been given the same measure of faith- not more or less than anyone else. It’s just that some are more developed that others in operating in that faith. And since we all start out with the same measure – the God-kind of faith, let’s find out what that kind of faith is and how to operate in it.

You see, we don’t need more faith as some think. We don’t have to ask God to give us more faith because He’s already given THE measure of faith to each of us. That being said, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of what do we do now.

First of all, in order to operate in the God-kind of faith, we need to know some things about what faith is and how it works. Similarly, if you wanted to operate in electricity, you’d have to know how it operates. And just as electricity has laws that govern its operation, so does faith. That may come as a surprise because most Christians think that you either have faith or you don’t. But that thinking never gets the job done.

Simply stated, faith is believing what God has said (His word) and then acting on it – like it’s actually true! Another definition is Andrew Wommack’s definition: faith is our positive response to what God has already given us by His grace.

Now we come to the laws that govern how faith works. If you don’t adhere to the laws, your faith won’t work and you won’t get your desired results.

Romans 3:27 (KJV) 27  Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Paul calls faith a law and this is to our advantage because a law works the same way every time. It’s not hit or miss with laws. Just like the law of gravity works whether it’s hot, cold, rainy, or sunny unless it’s superseded by a higher law.

It’s the same with electricity. There are laws that govern how electricity work and when you obey those laws, you do well. But if you violate those laws, it could be very dangerous and even deadly.

Now, what about faith. Here are some of the laws that govern how faith works:

1 – Faith is voice activated; it speaks! You have to speak your faith. You can’t just think faith and expect results. You can’t just think healing and get results.

Mark 11:23 (KJV) 23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Notice that saying is mentioned three times. We have to speak our faith if we want results. That means speaking the Word of God over the situation.

2 – Faith believes. Faith does not doubt (in your heart) but believes what it speaks and says.

3 – Faith doesn’t waver.

James 1:6-8 (KJV) 6  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

If you waver back and forth between believing and not believing, your faith won’t work because it will be cancelled out. You need to take your stand on God’s Word and don’t be moved off it. You can call this bulldog faith!

4 – Faith receives. It receives what has been spoken in faith according to God’s Word.

Mark 11:24 (KJV) 24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Romans 4:17b (KJV) 17  …  even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

And that’s why your words are so important because your words determine your destiny. They determine what you get.

Psalm 141:3 (KJV) 3  Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Galatians 6:7 (KJV) 7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7 (Phillips NT) 7 Don’t be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God! A man’s harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows.

Remember, we’re like magnets – drawing to us things that we speak. We need to seriously guard what comes out of our mouths. Listen to yourself and say, “Is that what I want to come to pass?” never say these things:

— Knock yourself out!

— Bite your tongue!

— That blows me away!

— That blows my mind!

— That cracks me up!

— That breaks my heart!

— That makes my skin crawl!

— That kills me!

— I love him/her to death!

— Nothing ever works out for me!

— Just when we seem to get ahead, something happens!

— Etc., etc., etc.

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)
21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 4:20-24 (KJV)
20  My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21  Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22  For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
24  Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

I think you get the point. The world, with its ungodly evil ways and language, has so programmed people that they say things that they never should say, not knowing how powerful our words are.

When God told Adam to take dominion and subdue the earth, how do you think he was supposed to do that? The same way that God does – with words! And since we’re created in His image, that’s how we’re supposed to operate in faith.

Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Brothers and sisters, we have so much victory in us that needs to get our by using our faith-filled words and speaking God’s uncompromised Word to effect a change in our circumstances, environment, and then in our world.

Such as I have, give I Thee!

Acts 3:6 (KJV) 6  Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

This is the account of Peter and John when they were headed into the temple and encountered the crippled man begging for alms. Notice what Peter said. What did he mean? What was it that he had and was willing to give to the crippled man? It was the Name of Jesus!  How was this going to help the man?

Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) 9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a [the]name which is above every name: 10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philemon 1:6 (KJV) 6  That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

I want you to notice that the Name that was given to Jesus is the Name above EVERY name that is named. That means the Name of Jesus is greater than the man’s affliction of paralysis. It also means that the Name of Jesus is greater than every sickness and disease that you might encounter: cancer, diabetes, heart problems, immune disorders, etc. – no exceptions!

Either the Name of Jesus is truly above and greater than every sickness, disease, affliction, problem – or it’s not above any!

Too many times, in fact most of the time, people categorize sickness and disease into little problems, medium problems, and gigantic problems. But not so with God. All problems are the same to Him because He is above all of them. We think that if they’re too big for us, they must be too big for God! How utterly offensive that must be to God when Jesus paid the ultimate price for our deliverance from all sickness and disease!

We need to remember Who God is and how powerful He is. He’s the One Who created the universe and everything else. Now that’s power to the max!

Then on the other hand, we need to remember that Jesus said if we had faith the size of a mustard seed, we could remove a mountain and cast a tree into the sea!

Matthew 17:20b (KJV) 20  …  I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Luke 17:6 (KJV) 6  And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

Anything that’s been bought and paid for is no longer an issue unless we make it one. Our sicknesses and diseases were dealt with at the same time our sins were – on the Cross. We need to get a revelation of this and rejoice in what our gracious Heavenly Father has done for us through the Blood of Jesus.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) 24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

It’s criminal to say that God gets some kind of pleasure from sickness and disease or that He is trying to teach us something! Those thoughts are abominable!

Brothers and sisters, we are a people most blessed and we have a Heavenly Father Who has so provided for us that we really have no need of anything. We just need to know how to receive His benefits and walk in the victory that He’s provided. That’s what I am endeavoring to teach in my blogs.

Psalm 103:2-3 (KJV) 2  Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
3  Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Matthew 6:33 (AMP) 33  But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

2 Peter 1:3 (KJV) 3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

What more could God do when He’s already done everything? We need to get into His Word and find out all that’s been given to us so that we can be the blessing we’re to be to a sick and dying world.

Praise the Lord of Glory for His goodness to us! Thank You Jesus!

Galatians 2:20 (KJV) 20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Do You Wear Your Spiritual Authority as a Badge or is it Tucked Away in a Drawer?

Yes, dear brothers and sisters, we really do have spiritual authority and that authority is what we use to overcome the enemy and all his evil ways and plans against us. But, what happens to those who are unaware of their spiritual authority? They’re open target for the devil to clobber them and kick out their spiritual brains and that isn’t funny!

Before we go on, let me define spiritual authority. It’s the authority that Jesus gave to us before He ascended back to Heaven. It’s the authority He gave us to rule and reign on this earth so that we really can be the head and not the tail, above and not beneath.

It’s the power of the Holy Spirit that we receive when we get the baptism with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues. But, and I say but, you can’t use what you don’t know you have. Let’s talk about this.

Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) 18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Acts 1:8 (KJV) 8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The word power in Matt. 28:18 is the Greek word exousia which means authority. The word power in Acts 1:8 is the Greek word dunamis which means explosive power. This means that Jesus gave us power and authority to go and do what He has commissioned us to do and that’s to preach the Gospel – the Good News that Jesus has already paid the price for all our sins and made a way for us to get back into relationship with our Heavenly Father.  And we need His power and authority to accomplish what He’s called us to do. We have an enemy and we need spiritual weapons to enforce his defeat.

John 14:12 (KJV) 12  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jesus never intended for us to do the works  that He did by ourselves. He has given us His name:

Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) 9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Here’s how we use our spiritual authority:

We are to bind the devil and resist him in the Name of Jesus and he will flee, which means run in terror. Know this: the devil and his cohorts are terrified of those who know their spiritual authority and walk in it. Yes, he tries to deceive us and get us to back off of God’s Word, but if we don’t, we win! It’s really as simple as that. Simple, yes but it takes effort and diligence to stick with it. But if we do, we’ll see the victory.

John 16:24 (KJV) 24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

The word ask means to demand. That means we make a demand on the promises of God, not on Him. We command the promises to manifest, to come into being. When we rebuke and resist the devil, we expect to see results.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) 7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

When we know and walk in our spiritual authority that the Lord has ordained for us, we won’t fear because we’ll know the truth and that truth that we know and walk in will make us free! Praise the Lord of Glory!

James 4:7 (KJV) 7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV) 8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Mark 16:17-18 (KJV) 17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Matthew 10:8 (KJV) 8  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Pamela

Are You Walking in Your God-ordained Power?

Yes, God has truly ordained that we should walk and operate in His divine power. We are to actually stand out as being different than our unsaved neighbors. But – do we? I think not!

Sad to say, many if not most, Christians don’t look any different than the unsaved people around them. They’re just as sick, broke, depressed, worried, etc. as are the unsaved. So what’s wrong with this picture? Everything!

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) 7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

God clearly says that fear is not of Him yet so many Christians have become expert at worrying about everything imaginable, just like the world. Brothers, and sisters, this ought not so to be because God has so graciously given us everything we need to be victorious on planet earth.

2 Peter 1:3 (KJV) 3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Notice that he has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him, through knowledge of His Word, because He and His Word are One.

Then look at this next scripture which Paul so graciously prays for us.

Ephesians 3:20 (KJV) 20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Yes, God is certainly able to exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think but it’s according to the power of His Word that works in us. How much working Word is in you? Now that’s an eye opener!

1 Corinthians 2:4-5 (KJV) 4  And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

God has always expected His Word to go forth with power and in demonstration to show forth His goodness. That’s what the Gospel is meant to do.

Romans 1:16 (KJV) 16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

You see, Jesus used signs, wonders, and miracles as a calling card to get people’s attention and then He could teach them about the Kingdom of God. That’s what we’re to do because Jesus is the Pattern Son and we’re to follow Him.

John 14:12 (KJV) 12  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

How on earth are we ever going to do the works of Jesus if we don’t believe that He’s already given us the power? Let’s look as some other scriptures:

Luke 10:19 (KJV) 19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

You see, the power’s already been given and we need to learn how to walk in it. And here’s the scripture that tells us how:

Philemon 1:6 (KJV) 6  That the communication [transfer]of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Our faith becomes effective by acknowledging all the good things that God has already given us. Then we can transfer that power to others and see the manifestation of God’s glory right before our eyes!

Praise the Lord Jesus for all that He has done for us that we might walk in His power and ability and set this fallen world back on its feet so that God can be glorified throughout all the earth!

Romans 8:11 (KJV) 11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Are the Weeds in Your Garden Draining all the Nutrients?

Sounds like I’m going to be giving a garden lesson but not so. I’m going to be talking about the garden of your heart and the weeds that try to drain your faith. Let’s look at the parable of the Sower in Mark 4.

Mark 4:14-20 (KJV) 14  The sower soweth the word.
15  And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. [Means if they don’t understand – Matt. 13:19.]
16
 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17  And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
18  And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
19  And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20  And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Matthew 13:19 (KJV) 19  When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

Here we see that the sower is actually sowing God’s Word and it happens to fall on four kinds of soil, which refers to four kinds of hearts. What I want to focus on is the third type of soil where the cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches, and the lust of other things enter in and choke the Word of God that actually did get into your heart and keeps if from producing. BUT. . .

These are the “weeds” that work night and day to rob you of God’s Word so that it doesn’t take root and produce. And just what are these weeds?

The deceitfulness of riches we can understand because riches have glamour and lure you into lusting after them at every turn. Just turn on the advertisements on TV and you’ll see!

Then we see the lust of other things which is the desire to have “everything” in sight or close to it. But that’s not what I want to focus on. It’s the cares of this world, entering into your heart, that seek to choke the very life out of God’s Word that’s in there.

So what are these cares? They’re the distractions of life that seek to consume us – day and night: our family, job, church activities, hobbies, recreation, etc. None of these things are evil in themselves but if we’re not on guard, we’ll let them rob us of our peace and worse than that, they’ll rob us of our fellowship with the Lord and His Word. That way, we’re weakened and hard pressed to get our faith active enough to get answered prayer.

I noticed this in my life about distractions and purposed not to let them be a hindrance to my faith. I even have a note card right on my kitchen table: Don’t be distracted! I keep it right before my eyes and it has helped tremendously!

Luke 21:34 (KJV) 34  And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

The word surfeiting means clutter!  Now that’s very interesting. It refers to all the unessential stuff in our lives that seeks to “clutter” our path and hinder our faith by keeping us focused on the wrong things.

Of course, we have our daily lives to live but we must be aware of distractions that work to usurp the place God’s Word should have in our lives.

If we want God’s best, we must want Him and His Word to be number one! Praise the Lord of Glory!

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Are You Paying Attention to Your GPS?

Ah-h – modern inventions! What a blessing a GPS can be when you’re headed toward a planned destination. But, there’s an even better GPS that will guide you along life’s path more accurately that a Global Positioning System and that’s God’s Positioning System – His Holy Word!

A GPS is designed to let you know the best route to take when you’re on a trip but it’s conditional upon you doing what you’re told to do. And it’s the same thing with God’s GPS – His Word.

God has already designed His Word to answer every need you’ll ever have but it’s conditional upon you being obedient to what He said and doing it His way! Let’s look at some scriptures.

God will give you a clear path to follow:

Psalm 119:105 (KJV) 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 18:28 (KJV) 28  For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

God has provided salvation:

Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) 9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

God has provided healing:

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) 24  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

God has your back covered:

Isaiah 54:17a (KJV) 17  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn.

Psalm 91:11 (KJV) 11  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Of course, there are so many more scriptures that show us the way of life via God’s GPS. However, His blessings and promises don’t fall on us like ripe cherries off a tree. We have our part, just as God has His part. He has already done His part by providing everything we’ll ever need to live a victorious life. Now our part is to line up with how He has set it up to work and comply.

Isaiah 1:19 (KJV) 19  If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Jeremiah 1:12 (AMP) 12  Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.
2 Chronicles 16:9a (KJV) 9  For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

Notice that God is always on the lookout to perform His Word but we have to do the confessing so that it gets into the earth and He can move on it.

Let me leave you with this scripture that shows God wanting to cause His Word that we speak to come to pass. This shows that if we follow His way of doing things, we’ll surely arrive at our destination!

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV) 11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

In order for God’s Word to prosper, we have to speak it out. That’s why I say over and over to get into God’s Word and get His Word into you. That’s when you’ll see the manifestation of His Glory!

Psalm 119:130 (KJV) 130  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
Psalm 36:9b (KJV) 9  … in thy light shall we see light.
Proverbs 3:23 (KJV) 23  Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
Proverbs 4:12 (KJV) 12  When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

The Touch of Faith

The woman with the issue of blood is one my very favorite narratives because it’s what I call the cliff notes on how to receive divine healing. There’s a lot more to this narrative than I’m going to talk about but I do want to highlight some basic truths about healing.

Mark 5:25-34 (KJV) 25  And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
26  And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
27  When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
28  For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
29  And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
30  And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
31  And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
32  And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
33  But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
34  And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

As we watch this woman with the issue of blood we notice several things. She had this issue for twelve years and had spent all she had on doctors who could do nothing for her but in fact, she got worse.

We also see that she heard of Jesus—what did she hear? Probably:

1 – … that people were getting healed of all kinds of sicknesses and diseases.

2 – … that Jesus never turned anyone away.

3 – … that if she could just get to Jesus she could get her healing.

Having heard all kinds of good things, guess what she probably thought – I could be healed too!

So she said, “If I may but touch the hem of His garment, I shall be made whole!” In fact, she kept saying that – over and over and over ’til she got to Jesus and actually touched His clothes.

When she finally made her way through the crowd and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, she knew immediately that she was healed. And then, just as quickly, Jesus noticed that power had gone out of Him – someone had activated the power in Him!

He then turned to the crowd that was thronging Him and asked who it was that touched Him. Everybody was pushing and shoving Him, but nobody except this woman touched Jesus with the touch of faith and drew on His power to heal. And – she received her healing. Not only that, Jesus said it was her faith that made her whole.

Yes, it was Jesus’ power that actually made the woman whole but without her activating that power with her faith, she never would have received. This clearly shows that God has His part to do, which He has already done. And we have our part, which is to receive what has already been given by God!

So, dear brothers and sisters, what have you been saying? Have you been saying that no plague shall come near you or that you walk in divine health because you’ve already been healed by the stripes of Jesus? Or have you been saying that every time flu season comes around, you get the flu or that in spring YOUR allergies act up? [Why would you want to claim allergies as your very own?]

Do you say that your God supplies everything you need according to His riches in Christ Jesus and that no weapon [lack] formed against you shall prosper? Or do you say that you never have enough money or just when you seem to get ahead, something goes wrong?

As you can see, the common denominator is what you’ve been saying for all these years and you’ve been reaping what you’ve been sowing! If you want what God has promised, you have to make some changes and do what He says to do, namely, speak what you want, not what you have. Speak your goal, not your struggles along the way.

Galatians 6:7 (KJV) 7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) 23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Matthew 12:34b (KJV) 34  … for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

As you can see, what’s in your heart in abundance will eventually come out. Get God’s Word in your heart and watch the supernatural take place in your life!

The Awesome Name of Jesus

The Name of Jesus – a name like no other. People get saved, healed, and delivered by that Name – the Name that’s above every name that is named. His Name is above sickness, disease, bondage, depression, poverty, sin, and a host of other things, all of which can be named.

Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) 9  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

It should really read THE NAME instead of a name. The Name of Jesus has within itself, enough power to do whatever Jesus did while He was here on earth. In fact, when you use the name of Jesus for salvation, healing, deliverance, etc., you are actually doing what Jesus would do if He were here in person.

You see, according to the Greek translation, we have been given power of attorney to use His name to effect a healing and a cure and whatever else we need! How ‘bout that!

Remember, the Name of Jesus was so powerful that the disciples were forbidden to speak in that Name. Of course, they righteously objected and continued to see signs, wonders, and miracles when they used the Name of Jesus.

Acts 4:18-20 (KJV) 18  And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19  But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20  For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

The Name of Jesus is not a cliché that we tack onto the end of our prayers. Oh no! His Name has power in it. Let me give you some scriptures.

The Name of Jesus in salvation

Acts 4:12 (KJV) 12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) 9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

The Name of Jesus is healing

Acts 3:6 (KJV) 6  Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Acts 9:34 (KJV) 34  And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.
Acts 16:18 (KJV) 18  And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
John 14:12-14 (KJV) 12  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Here we see that when we ask in Jesus’ Name – which means to make a demand on the promises of God, He will do it! Awesome!

Philemon 1:6 (KJV) 6  That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. [Communication means the transfer of your faith.]

You see, the disciples knew what they had in their re-born spirits and they simply released that healing power by using the Name of Jesus and it effected a healing and a cure. We have been given Jesus’ Name to do the same thing.

The Name of Jesus in Prayer

John 16:23-24 (KJV)   23  And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24  Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

Here we see that when we ask [make a demand on God’s promises] the Father in the Name of Jesus, He will give it to us! Of course, all this is contingent upon asking according to God’s will, which is His Word.

Power in the Name of Jesus

Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) 18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Luke 10:19 (KJV) 19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

We have legal right to use the Name of Jesus because He has given that power and authority to us.

Thanksgiving in the Name of Jesus

Hebrews 13:15 (KJV) 15  By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Oh, how blessed we are to be able to continually give praise and thanksgiving to our Father God in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior!

We truly are blessed above all the people on the face of the earth! Praise the Lord of Glory!

Is Your Attitude Hindering Your Relationships?

Everyone has an attitude whether it’s good or bad. Your attitude is your outlook and how you behave toward others. It can be one of superiority or arrogance or it can be humble and unassuming. Which one do you have?

Of course, we probably all want to exhibit a good attitude that is accepting of others and only thinks the best of everyone, but in reality, this just isn’t so.

So what can we, as born-again, spirit-filled, Bible-believing Christians, do to change a bad attitude into a good one that shows forth the goodness of God?

First of all, we need to identify just what bad attitudes are and then we can work on how to change them. Let’s look at some scriptures and see what God has to say.

Proverbs 13:10 (KJV) 10  Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

James 3:16 (KJV) 16  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
If you notice, contentions and strife come from pride. What, you say – I’m not in pride! Well, let me give you a definition of pride: pride is self-centeredness! That means when you’re only thinking of yourself, that’s pride, whether it manifests itself in arrogance or in shyness, it’s still self-centeredness because you are the focus of your attention. Let me give you some examples:

Anytime you’re focused on impressing people with how wonderful you are, that’s pride. When you always have to have your way, having to be the one who is right, that’s pride.

Then on the other hand, shyness is pride because a shy person is so focused on what others think of them and always concerned about saying the right thing so they don’t look stupid. That’s pride because it’s focusing on yourself – self-centeredness.

So what’s the problem with pride? The Word says that ONLY with pride comes contention – that means arguing, fighting, saying things that you’ll regret, holding grudges, etc. This is bad, bad, bad! And here’s the bottom line about pride: God hates it!

James 4:6 (KJV) 6  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
1 Peter 5:5b (KJV) 5  …  for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

The word resist means to actively fight against! Who wants God to actively fight against them! It’s the humble that God gives grace to! Isn’t that what we all want?

Just a side note: humility isn’t self-abasement. It’s thinking of yourself the way God says you are in His Word.

So, how do we keep pride at bay? First all, we’re going to have to deal with pride all throughout our Christian walk because the devil is always looking for an opening into our lives. Don’t give it to him. Just like taking offense is an inroad the enemy uses to trap us, so is pride.

Ask yourself why you get so angry when someone doesn’t agree with you. Why do you care so much about what people are thinking of you [shy people]? It’s your self-centeredness that always wants to have its own way or else! This is a sure way to cut yourself off from the Lord’s help when you desperately need it.

So here’s the good news: we can’t change everybody around us to do what we want because that’s control and control is witchcraft. But we can change ourselves and how we respond to others in all kinds of situations: our spouse, children, family members, co-workers, friends, etc. We can yield to the fruit of self-control which is in us. Plus we can practice the vocabulary of silence by keeping our mouths shut ’til we can trust what will come out. It’s hard to fight with someone who won’t speak or fight back!

And here’s another thing. You can’t just rebuke pride and never have to deal with it again. Pride is part of your carnal, fleshy self – governed by your five physical senses. The way you corral the flesh and harness your emotions is to renew your mind with the Word of God which changes your attitude almost effortlessly because you’ll be focused on God and wanting to be pleasing to Him.

Remember, in the imitable words of that sweet beagle Snoopy: nobody has to like you and you don’t have to care! The only One you should be out to please is God and that takes the pressure off. God loves us in spite of ourselves and that should be more than enough.

Proverbs 16:7 (KJV) 7  When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Romans 12:2 (KJV) 2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Ephesians 4:23 (KJV) 23  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

1 Corinthians 3:3 (KJV) 3  For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
1 Corinthians 3:3 (AMP) 3  For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?

Proverbs 29:25 (AMP) 25  The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts his confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high.
