If a perpetrator violates the laws of the land, and those in authority do nothing about it, what kind of deterrent is that? Laws are for the disobedient to show the consequences of their wrong actions. But, if there’s never any consequence because those in authority fail to enforce it, it doesn’t profit the law-abiding citizens.

So it is with God’s spiritual authority. He has given us a mandate –the dominion mandate—to take dominion over the earth and subdue it. But, I ask you, are Christians doing that? Are you doing that? Or, are we just sitting by, worrying and fretting when something bad happens, while we let the devil clobber us? This ought not to be.

Genesis 1:26-28 (KJV) ²⁶  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

We have been given power and authority over all the power of the devil. But, it doesn’t work unless we work it.

Luke 10:19 (KJV) ¹⁹  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Mark 16:17-18 (KJV) ¹⁷  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
¹⁸  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Take the weather, for example. Storms come and go, hurricanes come and go, tornadoes come and go, and what happens? There’s a trail of devastation in the wake of those demonic occurrences. This ought not to be.

Am I saying that we actually have authority over the weather? Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. God has so provided for us by giving us everything that pertains to life and godliness. If we don’t have authority over the demonic weather forces, then we’re in a vulnerable position to get beat up by the devil at his whim.

But – that’s not how it’s supposed to be. That’s not how God set it up. He so graciously gave us the power and authority to put the devil in his place and keep him under our feet. And, because God has given us the power and authority over the devil and his demonic plans and actions, we cannot whine and cry and bellyache, asking God to rebuke the devil. We’re to do that. If we don’t take the necessary action, it won’t get done. There’s a God-part and a man-part. God won’t do what He’s told us to do and we can’t do His part. But, working together, we can get the job done and live in victory and freedom from fear. Let’s do it!

2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV) ³  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
⁴  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

We’ve all heard someone exclaim, “I can’t believe that!” (Maybe you heard yourself say it!) But is that really a true assessment of the situation? Is that person really incapable of believing? No! Believing is a choice. It’s not that the person can’t believe, it’s that they won’t believe. You are capable of choosing to believe whatever you want to believe!

For example: If your friend tells you something incredible, you would probably be inclined to “believe” it because your friend has a track record with you. So, even though what your friend tells you something that’s seems so far out, you’re inclined it believe it because of your friendship. You choose to believe. It’s a choice regardless of whether or not the facts line up with your thinking.

How much more should we choose to believe God, Who doesn’t lie and is only out for our good?

Another example is electricity. Most of us don’t have more than a passing knowledge of how electricity works but that doesn’t stop us from using it. It’s the same with tv and radio waves. We don’t have to have a full understanding of those things before we make the choice to “run with it.”

By now you’ve probably guessed where I’m going with this message. You don’t have to have a full understanding of God’s Word in order to choose to believe it. It’s a choice that anyone can make. In fact, in most cases regarding God’s Word, you have to choose to believe it first, and then the understanding comes. That’s really how you got saved. You didn’t understand everything about salvation before you got saved. But once you made the choice to believe that Jesus paid the price to redeem you from your sins, you then began to understand how much it really cost and how precious you are to God.

Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) ⁹  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
¹⁰  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 3:3 (KJV) ³  For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

John 6:64 (KJV) ⁶⁴  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

This is Jesus! And some of them didn’t choose to believe Him—the Holy, Son of God, Who only spoke what the Father told Him to speak! You can’t get more truthful and accurate than that!

Then there’s the apostle Paul.

Acts 28:24 (KJV) ²⁴  And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Paul, who wrote 2/3 to 3/4 of the NewTestament, still encountered people who chose not to believe the Word of God that He preached.

You see, you can choose to believe anything you want. The unsaved do that all the time. They’re into all kinds of whacky things thinking they’re so smart, but they’re really following the devil and that path leads right to hell.

I challenge you today to make a quality decision that you will believe the Word of God, no matter what. No matter if you understand if fully or not. Just commit to honoring God by believing His Word. Then, as you continue in the Word, understanding and revelation will come and you’ll be so glad you made the right choice!

A man of God once said that the most important thing he ever learned was that God is smarter than he was. I absolutely agree and will show you what this actually means.

Of course, as Christians, we know that God is smarter than we are but do we really believe it? What? Of course we do! I wonder. Let’s explore this whole idea of God being smarter than we are. If we really believe that God is indeed smarter, than we need to find out what He has to say about the whole matter.

What about healing? God’s Word says that by the stripes of Jesus you’ve already been healed—that healing was bought and paid for by the Lord Jesus. But do you really believe that? What do you do when sickness or disease attacks your body? Is your first line of defense going to God and His Word to get scriptures to stand on? Or do you automatically run to the world’s way of doing things? Going to God first should always be the first thing you do. He will lead you in what to do. But of course, you have to first of all trust Him to KNOW what He’s doing. How can we say we put God first when, in fact, we don’t?

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) ²⁴  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Mark 16:18 (KJV) ¹⁸  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Now, please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying. Using the world’s methods are not necessarily wrong, and in many cases, can save lives. I’m just saying that we ought to connect with the Lord first and find out what He has to say. And, as you know, much of the time, praying and seeking the Lord’s help is usually a last ditch effort to get well. This ought not to be.

Then there’s a matter of finances. What happens when a financial need arises? Have you prepared ahead of time by your tithes and offerings? God’s Word is replete with promises to the tither and giver. But do you actually believe it?

Luke 6:38 (KJV) ³⁸  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (KJV) ⁶  But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
⁷  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
⁸  And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
 Malachi 3:10-11 (KJV) ¹⁰  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

¹¹  And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

If we really believe that God is smarter than we are, then it behooves us to do what He says. He has the Best Plan that we could ever need. Why do we exhaust all worldly avenues before going to God and His ways? To me, that’s spinning you wheels – you’re moving but going nowhere.

And, what about depression—an affliction that affects many people, even Christians. The first line of defense should not be to go to a therapist. Jesus said that His peace would keep your hearts and minds. Do you believe it or not? Because Jesus told us to let not our hearts be troubled, then we are capable of keeping our hearts from being troubled.

Philippians 4:4-7 (KJV) ⁴  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
⁵  Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
⁶  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
⁷  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

John 14:1 (KJV)¹  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
John 14:27 (KJV)²⁷  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) ³  Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

So, what’s the problem? Why is it imperative to go to God first instead of the world? Here’s the answer: Faith is the key to receiving everything from God. And the way to develop your faith is to get into the Word of God and get His Word into you. That won’t happen by accident. You have to, on purpose, get into the Word, study, meditate, confess, and do. Going to the world’s ways first, won’t set you up for receiving God’s help because that’s not the way to develop your faith. And while I’m on it, the worst time to try to develop your faith is in the midst of an attack, problem, or situation that warrants massive help. Develop your faith while things are going right, while all is well. Then when a problem rears its ugly head, you can blast it out with your faith!

Remember, God is smarter than you are and He always has the best way to go! We’re just not smart enough and we definitely don’t know everything, but we know the One Who does, and He is always open for business! All the praise, all the honor, all the glory be to our great and good God!

Fact vs truth — aren’t they the same thing? At first glance, they might seem the same but they’re not.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, a fact is information presented as true and accurate. Truth, on the other hand, is reality, actuality. And even though they seem to be the same, there’s a vast difference, even to the point of life and death.

For example:

The doctor’s report might indicate that you have a serious, even terminal, disease. This is a fact but not the truth. The Word of God says that Jesus bore your sickness and diseases on the cross and paid the price so you don’t have to be sick. The Word says believers shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. This is the TRUTH. This trumps any facts that stand in the way.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) ²⁴  Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

The fact might be that you are poor and living from paycheck to paycheck but the Word of God says that Jesus became poor so that we might become rich. The Word says that when we give, it is given back to us—multiplied.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV) ⁹  For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
Luke 6:38 (KJV) ³⁸  Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

The fact might be that you’re addicted to something but the Word says that Jesus defeated the devil and we are to resist him and he will flee.

1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV) ⁸  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
⁹  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

James 4:7 (KJV) ⁷  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

You see, everything that comes against us to defeat us, has already been resolved by the Lord Jesus by His death, burial, and resurrection. We’ve been made free and the more we attune to that TRUTH, the more we can walk in it.

2 Peter 1:3 (KJV) ³  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Whose report will you believe? Will you believe the evil report or the God-report? Remember, we’re talking about Almighty God and His Word. He cannot lie nor alter the thing that has gone forth from His lips.

Psalm 89:34 (KJV) ³⁴  My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
Psalm 119:89 (KJV) ⁸⁹  For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

We have to commit to believing God’s Word over everything that comes against us. It’s God’s Word!!! That should settle it. What we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths, is what we’re going to have. Don’t fall for the lies of the devil and confess his evil report. Find out what God says about your situation and stand on His Word by confessing it, meditating on it, and letting it get down into your heart where it can develop and come forth with dunamis power and might.

How many times have you heard the adage: When at first you don’t succeed, try, try again? Many times or at least some version of it. As Americans, by nature, we’re not quitters. But when it comes to the things of God, why is it that so many Christians are willing to quit when the slightest obstacle comes up? That’s what I’m going to address and hopefully, shed some light on the solution.

There’s only one sure way to never get you answer and that’s to quit before it manifests. What would have happened in the Garden of Gethsemane if Jesus would have quit? Oh, for the words NEVERTHELESS, not My will but Thine!!!

Matthew 26:39 (KJV) ³⁹  And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Jesus was faithful to fulfil the will of His Father and we must be faithful to do the same. He is our example, the Pattern Son. We follow Him and that means we do what He did.

Let’s look at a few more scriptures:

Galatians 6:9 (KJV) ⁹  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9 (AMP) ⁹  And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.

 

In the Greek, the word faint means to loosen out, to relax as in getting weary. It describes the person who gets so weary that he gives up right before the manifestation. What a sad place to be. What if, if one hour, things would have changed but he quit too soon.

Now, notice in Galatians 6:9 what the results are if we don’t faint and quit: we reap what we are believing to get. We get the manifestation only if we don’t quit.

Hebrews 12:3 (KJV) ³  For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Notice where it is that you faint—in your mind. That’s why we are told to renew our minds to the Word of God, so that we don’t faint in the day of adversity.

Romans 12:2 (KJV) ²  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Ephesians 4:23 (KJV) ²³  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

The Word of God is so encouraging and it’s meant to be. That’s why we are to study and meditate is so that it gets down into our hearts. That way, when trials and tribulations come, what pops out of your heart will be the exact Word that you need to overcome.

God is still on His throne and He is ever faithful to us. We are winners going somewhere to be a blessing!

Isaiah 40:29,31 (KJV) ²⁹  He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
³¹  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

For those who are committed to following the Lord, you can count on winning because He always causes us to triumph in Jesus. Why would you even think of quitting!

2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV) ¹⁴  Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

I’ll leave you with what David said in Psalm 27:13:

Psalm 27:13 (KJV) ¹³  I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

How many times have you checked the expiration date on a food item and found that it had expired and had to be thrown out? One of the first things I check before purchasing a food item is to check the expiration date. That way I have some idea regarding how quickly I must use it. Most likely, you do the same thing. Why is that?

Of course, we know the answer to that question—we don’t want to waste our money on something that will only last a few days, unless we plan to use it quickly.

But, did you ever think about God’s promises in that way? There are no expiration dates on His promises, as some would have you think. God’s promises are always yes and His Word is forever settled in Heaven. Sounds like “no expiration date” to me!

Now, let’s go to His Word and check this out for ourselves.

Psalm 89:34 (KJV) ³⁴  My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
Psalm 119:89 (KJV)
⁸⁹ For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (KJV) ²⁰  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

There are those who would have you believe that healings and miracles have passed away, but as you can see, that’s not true. Everything we’ll ever need has already been given to us by Almighty God. He couldn’t give us anymore because He’s already given us everything!

All means all and forever means forever! That should settle the matter. So…what’s the problem? If everything’s been given and all God’s promises are still viable today, why aren’t we seeing more healings and miracles in our lives? I think I can shed some light on this.

Remember, faith is the only way to please God and without faith, you cannot access His promises. Everything in the Kingdom of God works by faith.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
⁶  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

When you make a quality decision to believe God’s Word by faith and continue in it, you can rightfully access all the promises and expect to receive the results.

John 15:5,7 (KJV) ⁵  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
⁷  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

There are some conditions upon which we receive the promises. The problem is not with the giving because God’s already given. The problem lies in the receiving of them. Jesus said that you have to abide in Him and His Word has to abide in you. Then, when you ask something of the Father, He will give it to you because you will be asking according to the Word that’s in you. You can’t request anything of God that’s outside His Word or that contradicts His Word. But, why would you? Everything outside His Word is where the devil is reigning and that’s all evil, destructive, and deadly.

So, there you have it. Get God’s Word into your heart by confession, meditation, and doing it. Let it develop in you and then when you get filled up, it will come out with power and manifestation of the things you want.

Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV) ⁴  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
⁵  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Secondly, in addition to redeeming us from our sins, Jesus, at the same time, redeemed us from sickness and disease. God the Father laid all of our sicknesses and diseases on Jesus (on His spirit). He was wounded for our transgressions and by His stripes we were healed. Every foul, wicked, demon of sickness and disease was laid upon Jesus so that we could be redeemed from all that sickness and disease. We don’t have to tolerate it anymore. We can walk completely free from every sickness and disease that has plagued mankind. Our well-being has been bought with the precious blood of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. He bore it so that we don’t have to bear it. Let’s gird up our loins and walk in the divine health that belongs to us.

Thirdly, Jesus died spiritually. This means he was completely separated from the Father. That’s what spiritual death is. We are spirit beings in a flesh body. Our spirits will never die but they can be separated from our Heavenly Father and that’s called spiritual death. That’s what happens to those who die physically without Jesus. They also die spiritually – separated from God the Father for all eternity. When Jesus cried out. “Why hast Thou forsaken Me?” this as the ultimate part of the Redemption.

⁴²  Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

Jesus had always been with the Father – eternally and not ever separated. In the Garden, He asked if that cup could pass from Him. It was the most profound question of all eternity. If God would have agreed, we all would be lost. And remember, Jesus always got His prayers answered. But, thank the Lord, Jesus continued with, “Nevertheless, not my will, but Thine be done!” It was the separation from the Father that gripped Him; nothing else compared to it. But He accepted all that had to be done to purchase our redemption and bring us back into relationship with our Father God.

Jesus’ sacrifice, His substitutionary sacrifice, was a complete redemption. We are completely delivered from Satan’s dominion and his demonic ways: sin, sickness, and spiritual death.

 2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) ⁴  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Now, we have our part to do in enforcing Satan’s defeat. We must stand our ground against his wiles and trickery or he will beat out our spiritual brains. He lies, cheats, steals, destroys, and deceives trying to get us to back off of our faith stand and side in with him. Don’t do it!

You have been given all the spiritual weapons you’ll ever need to stand firm in your Redemption. Jesus already paid for it. Now you must walk in it if you want to live a victorious life. You have been given: the Blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Name of Jesus, Angelic protection, the Word of God, the armor of God, the Faith of Jesus.

With these weapons, you are guaranteed to succeed, to prosper, and to live a life worth living. God is on your side and all of Heaven is rooting for you. Go for it!

We have been made righteous in God’s eyes. This means we can stand in His presence without any sense of sin-consciousness, inferiority, or condemnation. All glory to our good and faithful God!

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) ¹⁶  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) ¹⁷  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) ¹⁶  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

When you receive a gift card, how do you use it? You redeem it at the appropriate store. When you receive a check, what do you do? You redeem it at the bank.

So, what does it mean that Jesus redeemed us? Just what is “Redemption”? Most Christians will acknowledge that they are redeemed but when you question them as to what that means, what is the answer?

To redeem means to buy back; to turn in and receive something in exchange. An example would by store coupons. With the coupons, you receive a certain amount of money deducted from the payment of your purchase.

When Adam sinned, we lost our right standing with God. The whole human race was plunged into darkness, headed for eternal damnation. But God, in His infinite wisdom and foreknowledge, had a plan already in place. He would send a  “Redeemer” to buy back what had been lost. He would, through Jesus, redeem mankind from sin, sickness, and spiritual death.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV) ³⁰  But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Now, if you’ve been a Christian for any length of time, you’ve probably heard this. But do you know the magnitude of what actually happened?

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) ²¹  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

When Jesus went to the Cross, He redeemed us from sin by becoming sin for us. He not only took our sins on His pure, sinless Spirit, but He actually became that horrible sin. He was made sin! Pure and holy as He was, He was made sin – the evil, demonic, filth of this world, the very nature of Satan, so that we could become righteous in the eyes of our Father God, having no sense of sin-consciousness, inferiority, or condemnation.

Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) ¹⁶  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The only way Jesus could have died was to be made sin for us. Heretofore, He had no sin in Himself. Sin is what causes death. So, when He took our sins on Himself, He died. He paid the total price for our Redemption so that we don’t have to pay it.

But it’s our choice. We can receive what He has done for us or reject it. In the final analysis, we will have no excuse for where we end up – Heaven or hell – because it’s our choice. We need to make the right choice and choose God’s way of salvation by accepting what Jesus did for us as our Savior and make Him our Lord. Then we can all rejoice together in heaven for all eternity!

2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV) ⁷  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Anybody can start a project. But how many ever get finished? Starting takes effort and some even say, “Just start and the rest will follow!” That may be true but it takes effort to actually get started: gathering all the necessary tools and equipment you’ll need, plus setting aside sufficient time to work (which is actually the hardest part!)

So, you’ve finally gotten all the tools and equipment you’ll need and you’re ready (and even excited) to begin. But, somewhere down the line, interruptions come and weariness sets in because it’s taking longer than you anticipated. So, the project gets shelved and remains unfinished.

Of course, all those projects are probably not life and death. But then, there are things that are life and death—namely our walk with God. And, even though we start out with a bang when we get saved, we need to stay focused and circumspect because the devil, the adversary, is lurking about to get us to quit walking by faith.

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) ⁸  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Be sure that problems will arise, temptations will come, and the cares of the world will confront you daily. But, that doesn’t’ change the faithfulness of God. He’s still the same, in spite of our circumstances. In fact, our circumstances don’t change God at all! He’s not a “fair-weather” God. He’s the same as He was yesterday, as He is today, and as He will be tomorrow and forever. He’s the absolute one constant that you can totally rely on forever!

Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) ⁸  Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

But, getting back to how we finish … We need to dig in, get back on track, and stay focused on walking with God daily. It’s not a “hit or miss” deal. We need to be determined and committed to stay in it for the long haul – ‘til the end and beyond. In fact, we’re always going to have to use our faith to please God because He’s a faith God!

Don’t let the circumstances of life discourage or distract you from finishing your course. Be determined that you will be able to say at the end that you have fought a good fight, finished your course, and kept the faith.

Romans 3:3 (KJV) ³  For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

Convenience . . . This word seems to exemplify the current attitude of the world today. We have cell phones that go with us everywhere so we “don’t miss a thing”, social media that keeps us informed of the latest happenings, dishwashers that speed-up clean-up, microwaves that reduce cooking time, and even auto-delivery so we don’t have to remember to order our essentials. It seems that everywhere you look, people are expecting convenience to meet their daily needs. But, is convenience always the bottom line?

If you only do what’s convenient, you’ll never do anything of much value! Going to work is not always convenient; exercising is not always convenient; reading your Bible is not always convenient. When you really get down to it, things of value – things worth their weight in time and effort – are things that are not convenient. They take time and effort, usually a lot of effort, to accomplish. For example:

Most Christians, when asked, will say they truly want the promises of God to manifest in their lives. But are they willing to do what it takes to get to that place? To get the promises of God to manifest, it takes faith and we know that faith comes by hearing the Word of God—not once in awhile, but over and over and over, day in and day out.

Romans 10:17 (KJV) ¹⁷  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) ¹⁵  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

My observation has been that if there’s an easy way out, people will take it in a New York minute! It seems that everyone is rushing and rushing to get things done – but, to do what? That’s the way of the world, but as Christians, we need to slow down and do what God has for us to do. If we need healing, we need to go to God’s Word and find out what He has to say about healing. But many Christians go to someone else to get them to pray for them. Worse yet, they don’t even do that. They go to the world and ask them what to do.

What about finances? If you need help with your finances, do you go to the Word of God and find out what He has to say. Or do you go to the world and get their opinion about what to do?

I think we know the answers to the above questions but the real question is why do Christians do what they do? Is it because convenience is at the core? Is it because God’s ways take time and lots of effort? The answer is obvious.

Now let me tell you why it’s expedient and beneficial to go God’s way, in spite of what seems to be inconvenient. Building your faith takes time and effort but be assured that whatever you get with your faith is what you keep. Anything else is just hit or miss. You can’t rely and depend on the world’s way of doing anything because the “world” is following the devil and we all know where that leads.

Satan is a liar and a deceiver and those who follow him will be lied to and deceived. It never leads to life but always leads to death – death to your health, death to your finances, and even death to yourself.

We, as born-again Christians, need to get into God’s Word and commit to following Him. He is all wisdom, all knowledge, all provision – everything you’ll ever need on planet earth. With God and His Word, it’s a win-win situation – every time!
