Can you say that you’re better off today than a year ago? 5 years ago? If you aren’t better off, why is that?
Are you just going through the motions and hoping all will be okay? If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? If you’re no better off than the unsaved, that ought not to be. Unfortunately, it’s true about many Christians that, from a glance, you couldn’t tell the difference between them and their unsaved neighbors. They’re just as sick, depressed, and in debt as those around them. What’s the problem?
First of all, it is definitely not the will of God to be poor, sick, depressed and a sorry mess. That’s the devil’s plans for all mankind. So, what has happened?
Let’s go back to the beginning when you first got saved. Things were so sweet and your love affair with the Lord was at its peak. But after the honeymoon, you came “back to earth” and the reality of life stared you in the face.
However, if you took your salvation seriously, you continued in God’s Word: studying, growing, and maturing in the things of God. Then when problems arose, you attacked them with the Word and stood your ground against the devil and his plans to rob your faith. Then when you looked back over the previous years you saw how you’ve grown.
However, if along the way, you let the problems of life overtake you and crowd out God’s way of doing things, you now find yourself no better off than the heathen except that you’re saved. And saved you are. Thank the Lord for that but what kind of testimony do you have that will cause people to want what you have? They already have nothing, can do nothing that works, and they’re depressed over it!
We need to be beacons of light, announcing to the world that God’s ways are a lot better than theirs. God’s plans for us are far better than we can think, know, or imagine and we are fully able to walk in them.
Yes, it takes effort to walk in God’s ways as does everything that’s worth doing and having. But we have supernatural help and that will put us over.
Let’s get back to God’s Word and follow His plans and walk in victory!
Revelation 2:4 (KJV) 4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Romans 2:4 (KJV) 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Hebrews 12:1b (KJV) 1 … let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
