How’s Your Progress?

2 Corinthians 3:18 (AMP) 18  And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

God’s plans and purposes for us do not include getting saved and then stuck! He has big plans for each of us but it’s up to us whether or not we ever fulfill those plans.

As you will notice in the above scripture, we are to progress from one degree of glory to another! Wow! We could stop and camp there for awhile. Then in Romans 1:17 we read that we go from faith to faith:

Romans 1:17 (KJV) 17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

This is awesome! Just thinking and meditating on this is glorious but how do we do it? Read on.

As you see in II Cor.3:18, it’s the Word of God that we are to behold. We are to be constantly looking to God’s Word for everything we do. What you continuously focus on, is what you become like. Therefore, if you’re in the Word and the Word is in you, you are becoming more and more like Jesus – going from faith to faith and glory to glory!

Have you ever noticed how married couples, who’ve been married for a longtime, begin to resemble each other in many ways? That’s because they’ve been “looking” at each other, observing each other and their individual ways. It rubs off on them. That’s why it’s so important who you hang out with. Hanging out with the wrong group can be very dangerous but hanging out with Jesus – The Word – will cause you to grow and progress – from one degree of glory to another.

1 Corinthians 15:33 (AMP) 3  Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.

One of the tricks of the devil is to convince you that you can hang out with the wrong group and be a good influence on them. This rarely works and can have the opposite effect – you becoming like them. What you need to do is to let your light shine for all to see and the goodness of God in your life will lead people to repentance. They’ll see your good works and want to know how you got that way and what makes you tick!

Remember, you’re the salt of the earth. Be a salty light!

Matthew 5:16 (KJV) 16  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5:13-14 (KJV) 13  Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV) 18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) 17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Romans 2:4b (KJV) 4  … knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
