Is Your Fire Still Burning Hot?

Are you still on fire for the Lord or have you dwindled to smoldering embers? In Rev. 2:4 Jesus tells the Ephesian Church that they’ve left their first love and they need to repent and get back on track.

Revelation 2:4 (KJV)
4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

What does it mean to leave your first love? What does Jesus mean? Let me give you a “skin and bones” example.

Go back to the time when you first got saved and how on fire you were! Remember how you wanted to tell everyone you met what Jesus had done for you? I remember!

Not only that, the love of God just oozed out of you because of your new found love for Jesus. But, down the road, life got in the way and maybe you got so busy that the Lord was no longer #1 in your life: the Word didn’t come first, talking and communicating with God didn’t come first, seeking God’s plans for your life didn’t come first. It seemed that everything else had challenged the #1 slot and won!

So, I ask you, does this sound like you or are you still on fire for God and radically in love with Jesus? Are your prayers working to the max like they did when you first got saved and made Jesus your Savior and Lord?

Too many times I have observed Christians who have made Jesus their Savior but not their Lord. They want what He offers but don’t want Him messing with their lives and their plans.

Oh, my dear brothers and sisters, what a shallow way to live because it puts us in the position of being beggars instead of walking in the fullness of what God has promised us – living a life worth living on planet earth and bringing glory to the Name of Jesus.

How many of you truly want to walk in the goodness and blessing that the Lord has for you? Probably all of you! Well, let me tell you unequivocally, that the Lord wants this for you more than you even do! In fact, He has already given us all His promises. We don’t need to ask, beg, or coerce Him into giving what He’s already given. Our part is to receive by faith what He’s already freely given by His immeasurable grace.

I encourage you to do a self-inventory and check where your heart is. Have you left your first love or are you still on fire for Jesus?

After 50 years of walking with the Lord, I am still as much and even more radical in my love for the Lord and His Word than I’ve ever been! So go for it and live that victorious life God has for you!
