How to Overcome Bad Behavior!

Colossians 3:17 (KJV) ¹⁷  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Colossians 3:23 (KJV) ²³  And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

At any point in time, each of us can have a bad thought that wants to propel us into bad actions. So what so we do to squelch those horrid thoughts and possible actions?

First of all, take authority over your thoughts. Rebuke them and command them to go in the Name of Jesus. Stand firm! You have the mind of Christ.

Philippians 2:5 (KJV) ⁵   Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV) ¹⁶  For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Remember, if you don’t speak those thoughts, they will die unborn. But once you speak them, they become seeds that you’re planting and able to produce a harvest that you really don’t want.

Notice in the opening scriptures that we are to do everything in the Name of Jesus. That in itself should quench all negative words and actions. Can you honestly fight with your spouse or children in the Name of Jesus? Of course not. If you think you can, you will have to override the promptings of the Holy Spirit who is trying to lead you in the right path.

Can you really gossip or speak negative things against someone in the Name of Jesus. I think not!

Let’s dwell on the good things and the myriad of blessings the Lord has so graciously bestowed on us and we’ll see the victory that we desire. God has given us all the tools. Our part is to use them!
