We know that when your body is weak, you cannot do the things you would normally do if you were strong. That being said, it’s the same with your spirit, the real you inside that makes you tick.
If your spirit is strong, your faith is strong but if your spirit is weak, your faith is weak. You can’t have strong faith if your spirit is weak. Perhaps you have already noticed that.
So how do you strengthen your spirit since you can’t actually see your spirit like you can see your body and how can you know if your spirit is strong when you can’t see it?
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Why does faith come from hearing God’s Word? Because that’s where faith is – in God’s Word. So if we want to strengthen our spirits, we have to get into God’s Word and get His Word into us. And as the Scripture says, faith comes from hearing His Word – not having heard but hearing and hearing and hearing until it sinks deep into us in abundance.
Let me caution you that not all messages preached from the pulpit are filled with faith. Preaching a social gospel or a seeker-friendly message will not instill the faith of God into you. You need to feed on the anointed Word of God that will penetrate right into your heart and cause faith to come, teaching that comes right from the Word of God with His anointing on it.
How do you know if the preaching and teaching is anointed? By the witness of your re-born spirit. Does it witness to you or does your spirit indicate that all is not right? You might be new to this but if you step out and take one step at a time, the Holy Spirit in you will witness to your spirit whether it’s of Him or not. This takes practice but it’s entirely do-able.
Brothers and sisters, hearing from God in your spirit is the most important thing you need to learn. Purpose to seek Him in this and learn how to be sensitive to His voice.
John 10:27 (KJV)
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Proverbs 18:14 (AMP) 14 The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?
Proverbs 4:23 (AMP) 23 Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
