1 John 5:4 (KJV) 4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
By virtue of the fact that you’re born-again, you are an overcomer. That means you are capable of overcoming everything and anything that comes against you. Sounds too good to be true but it is because God said it and He doesn’t lie.
You might not be overcoming the obstacles in your path but that’s not the proof of your status as an overcomer. God said you are and that settles it. Your part is to learn how to put that into practice and see the victory. And that victory is based on our faith because our faith is the victory that overcomes whatever attacks us.
Romans 8:37 (KJV) 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Not only are we conquerors but we are more than conquerors which means we win before the battle even begins. Now that’s the victory of an overcomer!
Jesus repeatedly told people not to let their hearts be troubled. It was a command not a holy suggestion! They were told not to fear because Jesus knew how deadly fear is and He knew what it would do to their faith.
John 14:1 (AMP) 1 DO NOT let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me.
So what was Jesus’ antidote to fear? It was to let His peace reign in their hearts.
John 14:1 (KJV) 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
John 14:27 (KJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Jesus is very clear that we are not to fear. Yes, fear will come against you but you don’t have to let it into your heart. You have a choice. You might even experience all kinds of physical symptoms but you don’t have to succumb to fear. Rebuke it in the Name of Jesus and let His peace rise up and overtake you. And of course watch your mouth!
God would never command us to do something that we were incapable of doing. What’s the point? He knows what we’re capable of and He expects us to follow through because He’s the One Who’s backing us up!
