Knowing & Walking in Your Spiritual Authority – Part V

Romans 8:17a (KJV) 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ…

Joint-heirs, as you know, receive joint benefits. And if we’re joint-heirs with Jesus, we get what He gets! That’s a mouthful and might cause some of you to wonder how this can be. Well, it’s true because God said it and He doesn’t lie.

Which brings me to another reason why people have a hard time believing that God has given us His power and authority to take dominion over this earth. They don’t believe and value God’s Word! Therefore, they don’t see God’s Word as the final authority – the benchmark for all they do. To them, His Word is just another way of looking at things, when in reality it’s the only way for us to look at things if we’re born-again believers.

2 Peter 1:3-4(KJV) 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

God has so graciously provided everything we’ll ever need on planet earth to be victorious. He even gave us a portion of His very own faith to use to access those promises! [Romans 12:3b; Galatians 2:20b] What more could we ask? The problem lies in the fact that many don’t even believe that He has done this and think that it’s contingent upon our behavior and good works. But it’s not. He has freely given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness and His promises are always yes!

2 Corinthians 1:20 (KJV) 20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Knowing & Walking in Your Spiritual Authority – Part IV

Luke 10:19 (KJV) 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Here’s another scripture where Jesus tells us that He has given us power over the enemy.

The first word power is exousia which means delegated authority. The second power is dunamis which means the dynamic, miraculous power of God. Dunamis is the same word we get dynamite from. This covers it all!

We have been given everything we need to be overcomers on planet earth but it all functions through faith. That means you can live and die and never walk in the power and authority that God has for you because you have to first believe that He has given it and then you have to believe that He has given it to you to use and operate by your faith.

I think many people disconnect when they hear teaching like this because they don’t believe that God has already given this power and authority to His people since they don’t see it operating in their lives. They forget that there’s a God-part and a man-part to everything when operating in the things of God.

Too many Christians want to leave it all up to God and take no responsibility for what happens in their lives. This is nonsense and simply not true. God never intended to live our lives for us. He expects us to seek Him and His ways and be led by the Holy Spirit in all we do.

Knowing & Walking in Your Spiritual Authority – Part III

When you were born on this earth, you were given authority to be here. Satan wasn’t born on this earth and he doesn’t have a body. You must have a body to have authority on this earth. [John 10:1-9] Then when you are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit, you then have the power and authority of God residing in you and you’re ready to do battle and take your place as one having dominion on this planet.

The only way satan gets any authority to operate on earth is to use somebody else’s authority. That’s why he so deviously tricked Adam and Eve into relinquishing their authority. And that’s how satan became the god of this world.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV) 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

But hold on! Jesus bought back what was lost and now we can have authority and power over all the power of the enemy and be victorious on planet earth and fulfill the plans that God has for us. But it’s all contingent upon us be being born-again and walking in the spiritual authority God has for us.

Matthew 28:18 (KJV) 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

What Jesus is saying is that all power has been given to Him and now He’s giving it to us. How do I know that? Because Jesus is the Head and we’re His body on earth. What the head has, His body has. Simple enough but we have to believe it and learn how to appropriate it if we want to see it come to fruition.

Knowing & Walking in Your Spiritual Authority – Part II

Genesis 3:6(KJV) 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Adam sold out to the devil. Now what was God going to do? Why didn’t He destroy Adam & Eve & satan and start all over with a new man? Why didn’t He just wipe the slate clean and start over?

He had given His Word that Adam was to have dominion over the earth. That meant Adam could freely give up that authority if he so chose. It was the wrong thing to do but God had given him a free will and God would not violate His Word. That’s why things were a mess. But God had another Plan. God always has a Plan because He’s the Great Planner!

God’s Plan was a Plan of Redemption and what a Plan it was! Jesus would come to earth, as a man, redeem mankind back to God, and restore all that was lost in the great Fall.

Fast forward to the New Testament where Jesus paid the ultimate price to redeem mankind back to God. And here we are today. But what exactly does that mean – our redemption?

Not only did Jesus pay the price for the original sin that Adam and Eve committed, but He bought back our restoration – our authority and dominion over the earth. That was God’s original Plan and it is still His Plan today. That’s what Spiritual Authority is and that’s what I’m about to teach.

Spiritual authority and power go together even though they’re different words. The word authority in the New Testament is exousia which means delegated authority but is sometimes translated power.

The word power is the word dunamis, which you have seen many times in my teachings. It refers to the explosive, miraculous demonstrative power of Almighty God.

Let me give you an example. A bank guard standing at the entrance of a bank has authority to choose who comes in and who doesn’t. He doesn’t have power to stop a band of robbers but if he has a gun, then he has power to stop them. That’s the difference. We have authority and we have power over all the power of the enemy in the Name of Jesus.

Knowing & Walking in Your Spiritual Authority – Part I

Authority! Isn’t that what all of us would like to have? Authority affords us privileges that others don’t have. We’re an elite group – the ones with authority. Would you like to know how to get authority that makes a way for you when there is no way, authority that opens doors that otherwise would remain shut forever? Keep reading; this is going to be an exciting journey!

Let’s start in the beginning, in Genesis, where we see God giving mankind authority over the whole earth.

Genesis 1:26 (KJV) 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Here we see that God has chosen to make mankind in His image and likeness and give them dominion – authority- over the earth. In other words, He has given mankind the rule over the earth. The earth now belongs to man – God’s man.

But, wait – something horrendous happened. Adam, God’s man, sold out to a snake – satan, and transferred his authority to the enemy of God, thus plunging the entire human race into a downward spiral that only God could redeem him from.

You see, God’s original intention was that His man would rule the earth, subdue it, and take dominion over it. God knew that it was possible or He wouldn’t have given him authority to do it. But, Adam and Eve believed the lies of that lying serpent, satan, and committed high treason.

Do you think that surprised God? No! It didn’t surprise Him (they had a free will) but I believe it terribly disappointed Him. He had walked and talked and fellowshipped with Adam and Eve daily. He had already given them everything there was on planet earth with one exception – the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, Blessing and Calamity. This was the only stipulation for them – not to eat of it. One tree!

They already knew about the goodness of God but they didn’t know anything about evil. If God had wanted them to know about evil, He would teach them in His own time.

Faith & Patience – the Power Twins – Part IV

So just where do we get this awesome patience that undergirds our faith? Let’s look at some scriptures.

Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) 22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The word longsuffering means fortitude, forbearance, and translated patience in some other translations. This is in our reborn spirit. How ‘bout that! We have the patience we need right inside our spirit. What we need to do is to draw it out so that it will work for us. How do we do that?

What I do is to yield to the fruit in my spirit by saying, “I yield to patience, peace, love, etc.” It might not seem like anything is happening but if you’ll stick with it, it will work for you. I’ve done this so many times and it’s always amazing how God comes through every time.

Think of entering the highway via the on-ramp. You know that you are to yield to the on-coming traffic. That means you stay where you are and let the traffic go ahead of you. That’s what you’re to do with patience. You back off and let patience come forth: you yield to it! It’s the same with all the fruit of your spirit – love joy, peace, etc. You must do the yielding if you want to see it come forth.

Faith & Patience – the Power Twins – Part III

Another thing that patience does is that it undergirds your faith. It’s what holds you up while you’re waiting for the manifestation. Patience is being constant. It’s faith over a prolonged period of time and it’s vital to keeping us fighting the good fight of faith.

James 1:3-4 (KJV) 3  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

James is telling us that if we let patience do what it’s supposed to do, we’ll get our desired results – lacking nothing. [Of course, it’s not just gritting your teeth and holding on. It’s standing in faith on God’s Word.] That sounds pretty good to me. Why would I even want to quit when quitters never win and winners never quit? That’s something you can bank on!

So, why do people give up before they get their desired results?

Galatians 6:9 (KJV) 9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

This is why people give up and quit before they get the answer: they grow weary of the long haul. But we’re not supposed to do that. If God said we are overcomers, than we are overcomers. Our part is to simply stick with it until we see our desired results. And they will come if we don’t loosen our grip and quit!

One of the problems with many people is that we live in an “instant” society where we expect everything to happen quickly, if not faster! We have microwaves for just about everything, instant mashed potatoes, TV dinners, and here’s one of the best: take-out food! We don’t even have to cook it! We just order and it gets delivered to our doorstep.

But, that’s not the way it works with God. Everything that happens in the natural realm, first happens in the spirit realm because the spirit realm is the parent force that created the natural realm. Prayer is a spiritual force as is faith and we can’t access the spiritual realm by natural means: our five physical senses. That’s one of the reasons we need patience – to hold us together while we wait.

Faith & Patience – the Power Twins – Part II

Hebrews 6:12 (KJV) 12  That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Let’s talk about patience for a bit. We all know what impatience is – being anxious to get the result you want and wanting those results yesterday! But that’s not how spiritual things work.

Remember there are two realms we’re dealing with: the natural realm and the spirit realm. As we have learned, the spirit realm is the parent force of the natural realm. Everything happens in the spirit realm first and then in the natural realm. That’s why it takes patience, holding on until you see the desired results.

Things in the natural realm take time to manifest. It could be a short time or it could be a long time. But know for sure that if you pray in faith according to God’s Word, the answer will manifest.

Notice in the opening scripture that it’s through faith and patience that we inherit the promises. And even though the promises belong to us, we still have our part to do to have them manifest in our lives.

We all want the promises of God to manifest but how do we get this to happen? It’s by our faith, of course, but coupled with patience. If we’re impatient and give up or quit before the manifestation, we don’t get the promises, ever though God has already provided them for us.

As I’ve said many times, there’s a God-part and a man-part. God has already provided everything we’ll ever need to be victorious on planet earth but those promises don’t fall on us automatically. We have to access those promises by our faith.

Faith & Patience – the Power Twins – Part I

Hebrews 6:12 (KJV) 12  That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Faith and patience – a winning combination! We’ve been studying faith all along and how vital it is to walking with God and pleasing Him. But did you know that without patience, your faith will not last? You need patience to hold up your faith. Let me explain.

We have learned that faith is the substance of things that we hope for but can’t actually see with our five physical senses. Faith is being persuaded that what God has said is true and then acting on it. It’s seeing beyond the natural realm and into the spirit realm. It’s what we hold onto until we see the manifestation. It’s our title-deed to what we want.

Hope, on the other hand, is what we attach our faith to so that it has something to give substance to. Hope is confident expectation that what we have prayed will come to pass. And as Charles Capps says, hope is the goal setter just like the thermostat on your heating/AC unit.

Patience is what we use to keep our faith active and ongoing. It’s the stick-to-it-tiveness, hold-on, never-let-go fruit of our spirit that keeps us holding on and not quitting or giving up. Patience is endurance and perseverance. If your patience runs out, your faith won’t work. That’s why faith and patience are called the power twins!

Spirit of Faith vs Spirit of Fear – Part V

As I’ve said, faith is trusting God to be and do what He has said in His Word. So where do people miss it? They don’t value the Word of God because they don’t really trust Him to honor His Word. It’s just like what we do with people. We believe the ones we trust. We believe their track record or we don’t believe it. All in all, it’s a choice. Our choice!

The more you value God’s Word, the more you value Him. That’s when you’ll start to see results because you know that His Word works and that He backs it up. Remember, you can’t have faith beyond your knowledge of His Word and trusting that Word.

2 Chronicles 16:9a (KJV)
9  For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

God is always on the look-out for those who will believe Him and stand on His Word so He can show Himself strong on their behalf. He wants to cause His Word to come to pass in your life but it has to come through the avenue of faith and that means trusting Him and His Word.

If things aren’t working the way they should, we’re the ones at fault. It’s never God who’s withholding from us. We’re either not receiving or we’re missing it in some way. We can’t even blame the devil because we have authority to bind him and command him to bud out!

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) 8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
James 4:7 (KJV) 7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

So how do you know when it’s the enemy talking to you or it’s God? You know because the devil is a liar and that’s what he does – lie to you by giving you negative thoughts of fear, doubt and unbelief. That’s what he did to Eve: “Did God really say that?” She should not have entertained any of his lies. And that’s what we’re to do – not entertain any of satan’s lies that come to us. We’re to cast them down immediately, taking those thoughts captive and rebuking him, and making sure those thoughts line up with the Word of God.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV) 5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
