Do the Circumstances of Life Seem to be Controlling You?

God never intended for the circumstances of life to control us. We are to be in control because we have been given a mandate to dominate our area of influence. But, many times it might seem that “things” are in control and not us. Why is that? Read on.

You’ve probably heard us called the ‘blab it and grab it” group. But, I want to tell you that that’s exactly what is happening in your life if things seem out of control. Take a look at what you have been saying. What’s been coming out of your mouth?

Proverbs 13:2-3 (KJV) 2  A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
3  He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Notice that the above scripture is referring to the words of your mouth. It’s by your words that you order your life. In other words, what you say is what you get. But, you might say that you haven’t been speaking evil. What about: things never work out for me, if I start doing better, something always happens, or how ‘bout Murphy’s Law! I think you get the picture. (Note: I never confess Murphy’s Law. I say, “Whatever can go right will go right at the most opportune time.”)

James 3:2 (KJV) 2  For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

James makes it very clear that you can control your whole body with the words of your mouth. And you can control your circumstance with the words of your mouth. It’s all the same principle.

I challenge you today to take heed to what you have been saying, whether it’s been for weeks, months, or even years. Have those words brought blessings into your life and those around you? If not, then it’s time to take inventory and change so that you can, indeed, live the life that your Heavenly Father intended.

Genesis 1:26 (KJV) 26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) 23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
