So, what’s all the “ado” about faith? Either you have it or you don’t – right? Wrong!
There’s much ado about faith because God is a faith God and makes much ado about faith! Therefore, we should also. That should settle it for us.
Now, for those “touchy, feely” people, faith is not a feeling! We don’t feel faith. People often say the “felt” this or that when referring to faith but it would be more accurate to say, “I was impressed about this or that.” It’s not a feeling. It’s a “sensing” in your spirit.
So, just what is faith? It’s simply believing what God has said in His Word and then acting accordingly. It’s our positive response to what God has already provided by His grace. Without faith, we can’t please God and if we can’t please God, we’ll be in s constant state of frustration because as Christians, we intuitively want to please God. That’s our heart. Well, isn’t it great to know that we can actually, as human beings, please God Almighty, Creator of the heavens and earth? We can please the Creator of the Universe by using our faith and believing and acting on His Word,
Feelings and emotions can’t be trusted. They’re fickle and unreliable and dependent upon circumstances which are in the devil’s realm. He simply changes the circumstances by rearranging things. It’s all the same, just packaged differently.
That’s why you can’t “move” to get away from your problems because they’re devil-influenced and he’s out to steal, kill, and destroy. But, don’t let him. Stand your ground and keep walking by faith. Your shield of faith will quench all the fiery darts of the enemy and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, will keep you on the right path.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not to our own understanding. This will keep us in good stead.
John 15:5 tells us to abide in the Word and let the Word abide in us. We are to abide in the vine because without Jesus, Who is the Word, we can do nothing of any value. We abide in Him and He abides in us by the Word. That’s why it’s so important to know the Word of God. Not knowing the Word is the greatest enemy of our faith.
God has all the answers we’ll ever need, even before we need them. Don’t rely on your feelings. Rely on God’s Word and walk in victory!
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
John 10:10 (KJV) 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Ephesians 6:16-17 (KJV) 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV) 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
John 15:5,7 (KJV) 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
