What is a sound mind? It’s a mind that’s, first of all, at peace. That’s one of the obvious characteristics of a sound mind.
A mind that’s tormented with evil, wicked thoughts, including worry thoughts, is not a mind that’s at peace. That’s a mind that the devil is having a field day with.
II Tim 1:7 tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind — a mind that is free from fear and torment.
One of the greatest battlefields of the devil is the mind. If he can get you to accept and think his evil wicked thoughts, he can get you to act them out. Evil thoughts, if not controlled, will eventually lead to bad actions and this is not good.
We need to think on things that are good, pure, lovely, and of a good report. We need to meditate on the Word of God and get it into our hearts so that faith develops. Then when we speak the Word, it will come forth with power and cause manifestation.
John 14:27 (KJV) 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Philippians 4:8 (KJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
