How Can You Believe in a God You Can’t See?

How can you believe and trust in a God you can’t see. That’s a good question and the short answer is: That’s what faith is – believing in something or Someone you can’t see or contact with your physical senses. If you could, it wouldn’t take faith!

Now for the more detailed answer. Have you ever wondered how unsaved people view God? Even the unsaved have their opinion about God. Let’s look at some of them so that you can have answers when they confront you.

Atheists say they don’t believe there’s a God. [Of course, that all changes when the enemy is breathing down their necks!] The agnostics say they believe there’s some kind of higher power. Actually agnostic means stupid according to the Greek translation.

Then there are all sorts of religions that say they believe any number of things concerning God. But only the true Christians have an inside track about who God is. Let’s check this out.

For a person to blatantly say they don’t believe in God just because they can’t see Him is totally unreasonable because they believe in electricity that they can’t see. But to say they can’t see God is also unreasonable because all they have to do is to look around to see the sun, moon, stars, trees, plants, wildlife, and the list goes on.

But one of the most compelling arguments regarding the existence of a Creator is the study of the human body. What a magnificent piece of work! The minute detail of every cell to the complexity of every system in our bodies is mind-boggling. What beauty and precision went into making and creating us. Only a Supreme Creator could do such a thing.

The very fact that everything produces after its kind [Genesis 1] shows that God had perpetuity in mind. It wasn’t a once and done deal. He’s not creating anymore because everything produces after its kind and the seed is in itself.

Look at a flower, study a bird, watch an eagle soaring. All these are the results of an Awesome Creator Who loves us with and everlasting love.

Who can you go to in times of need and you don’t get put on hold? God is on call 24/7 and He delights to fellowship with us. He’s the One we can count on because He’s faithful, faithful, faithful! Praise the Lord of glory!

Genesis 1:11-12 (KJV) 11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12  And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21 (KJV) 21  And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:24 (KJV) 24  And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

1 Peter 3:15 (KJV) 15  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Romans 1:20 (KJV) 20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Hebrews 13:5b (KJV) 5  … I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
