Be Not Deceived!

Ephesians 4:14 (KJV) 14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

It doesn’t take much to notice all the deception that’s being perpetrated against us as a nation. We’re getting it from all sides – especially the fake news media, who only reports what they want, whether or not it’s true! But, as you know, it hasn’t always been that way.

So, what can we do or what should we do to guard our hearts against all the deception around us? Well, you probably know what I’m about to say, if you’ve been reading my blogs for any length of time: what does the Word of God say and what do you witness to in your spirit?

Brothers and sisters, now more than ever, God’s Word has to be the benchmark from which we measure everything in our lives. We are not to ignorantly and naively believe everything everyone says. The only TRUTH is: what does God say!

2 Timothy 3:13 (KJV) 13  But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

God’s Word tells us that evil people will keep deceiving and getting very skilled at it. Only by the Lord’s discernment will we be able to rightly divide what we hear.

 1 Corinthians 15:33 (KJV) 33  Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.

We know that if we hang out with the wrong people, we will become like them – thinking, believing, and acting. But what about hanging out with the fake news media and believing what they’re saying? What about reading books that contradict God’s Word? And of course, what about your “friends” who believe things contrary to God’s Word? Don’t think that these things won’t influence you; they will but not for good.

Proverbs 4:23 (KJV) 23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23 (AMP) 23  Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.

God strongly commands us to guard our hearts – what we put in by hearing, seeing, and thinking. What we put into or allow to get into our hearts is what will come out. And this, my dear friends, is what’s important in times of crisis. You don’t want the world’s evil thoughts to come forth when you’re believing for a breakthrough from God.

This is so serious. We need to be on guard 24/7, guarding what we let through to our hearts. Perhaps we need to change the channel more often! If the news upsets you, turn it off! You’ll get the main points along the line.

I know people, Christians, who are terribly affected by the news. This can even lead to physical ailments. We need to be very cautious!

I’ll leave you with this: check out everything you hear and see against the Word of God and listen to your spirit. If it doesn’t line up, reject it or put it on the shelf. If we sincerely want to know the truth, God will show us. You can count on it!

Galatians 6:7 (KJV) 7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Matthew 24:11 (KJV) 11  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
