Hold on – before you dismiss this Blog as not pertinent to you, it is if you’re a born-again child of the Living God.
So you ask, what is the Power of Attorney and how does it pertain to me? Basically, the one who has the PA gives that person the right to act on the behalf of another person – the second party. It’s as if that second party was actually doing what the PA person has the legal right to do and those actions must be followed. Not only that but it puts a tremendous responsibility on the one with the PA to do whatever is in the best interest of the second party.
Where’s the born-again believer’s Power of Attorney? It’s in the Name of Jesus! Before Jesus left, He told the apostles that all power and authority had been given to Him and now they – as His protégés – were to go and use that same power and authority to do the same works that He did. [John 14:12].
When Peter and John saw the crippled man sitting outside the temple begging alms, Peter perceived that the man was ready to receive from him.
Acts 3:6 (KJV) 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
What did Peter have? The Name of Jesus! That was Peter’s Power of Attorney – to be used as if Jesus had spoken to the crippled man. How awesome!
That Power of Attorney is the Name of Jesus – the Name that is above every name that can be named: sickness, disease, cancer, diabetes, MS, arthritis, migraines, depression, poverty, lack, etc. Every foul wicked obstacle and attack of the devil has to bow to the Name of Jesus.
Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Notice in Acts that many times the disciples were forbidden to speak in the Name of Jesus because they, the religious and political parties, knew there was power in that Name. But that didn’t stop the disciples from using the Name of Jesus to effect a healing and a cure in those that needed it. They chose to obey God rather than the devil’s henchmen.
You see, tacking the Name of Jesus on the end of a prayer like a cliché is not what we’re to do. His Name embodies all that He does, is, and ever will be. We’re to pray and command in the Name of Jesus the same way that Jesus would do it on earth. We’re His hands and feet – His body on earth. He’s the Head and we’re the body. He works through us by His Holy Spirit but not apart from us.
In Gen 1:26, 28 God gave Adam (mankind) a command to take dominion over the earth and to subdue it. When Adam committed high treason, satan gained that dominion a became the god of this world. But – Jesus bought it back for us in His Redemption. Now we’re to take our rightful place as commanders of what happens in this world. We have been given Power of Attorney over all the power of the enemy but not over people because they have a free will. Even though the devil seeks to override mankind’s free will every way he can, God won’t because of His Word and His integrity. He gave that authority and dominion to man and He won’t go back on His Word.
Brothers and sisters, let’s start using our Power of Attorney and take control of this world the way God intended and see victory come to pass in our lives.
Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Mark 16:17-18 (KJV) 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
John 14:12-14 (KJV) 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Genesis 1:26 (KJV) 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Genesis 1:28 (KJV) 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Luke 10:19 (KJV) 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
