We Need to be Thankful!

Being thankful is one of the big keys to promotion in the Lord. He tells us over and over to be thankful and appreciative of what He’s done for us. But are we thankful?

I have observed that many people are more focused on what they don’t have than on what they do have. God has so provided for us in every way that we can literally spend all eternity thanking Him for all He’s done for us.

Unfortunately, the devil has gotten in and made us think that we’re deprived and have to do without in order to get through this life. Not so!

If we’re lacking in any area, it’s not God’s fault but ours! Why can I say that? Because He has so graciously provided everything we’ll ever need on planet earth to be successful and victorious but most people don’t believe that.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV)
3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

This shows us just part of what God has already given us – all things! And just for the record, there are over 7000 promises in the Bible for us! So how do we get them to manifest in our lives?

You guessed it – by our faith! Faith accesses the promises. All the promises are in the spirit realm. Faith is the bridge that brings things from the spirit realm into the physical realm. That’s how God set it up to work and it works if we work it!

One of the ways or keys to accessing the spirit realm is by speaking God’s Word. Mark 11:23-24 is an example.

Mark 11:23-24 (KJV)
23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

When we speak God’s Word, it gives Jesus something to work with and gives the angels something to move on. But we have to actually do the speaking. We can’t just beg and plead with God to do it for us.

1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV) 8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

James 4:7 (KJV) 7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

If we want the devil off our backs, we have to do the resisting, not ask God to do it for us. Notice that the devil will flee from you when you resist him, not flee from God.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Let’s thank the Lord for His goodness to us — Pamela
