What’s the Big Deal About Faith Part V

So, why is faith so important? In Romans we read that we go from faith to faith and the just live by faith.

Romans 1:17 (KJV) 17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

This means that we go from one degree of faith to another, as one translation says. We are to be constantly growing in faith [II Thessalonians 1:3] so that we can know our Heavenly Father and His way of doing things. We are the just- the justified in the Lord – and we are to live by His faith.

Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

You see, it’s not even our faith but the faith of the Lord Jesus that we have in us to live by.

Romans 12:3b (KJV) 3  …  according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

We actually have a measure of the very same faith that God has! Wow – that’s cause for rejoicing!

Galatians 2:21 (KJV) 21  I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Another reason faith is so important is because without faith, we frustrate the grace of God. Even though He has freely given all we’ll ever need, if we don’t receive it by faith, we frustrate His grace. We prevent Him from doing what He wants to do in our lives. It’s the same as when you give a gift to someone and they won’t receive it in spite of all you did to prepare that special gift for them.

The Holy Spirit wants to be the conduit through which we receive all that God has for us. But—it only happens if we receive it by faith.

In these teachings, we’ve touched on some of the reasons why faith is such a big deal to God and should be to us. I hope this helps. Next time we’ll get into just exactly what the God-kind of faith is. Stay tuned.

Romans 5:2 (KJV) 2  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV) 12  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
