Too many times Christians think that they don’t have to use their faith because “they’re trusting God” but what does that actually mean? Unfortunately it often means that they’re doing nothing and letting it all up to God. What’s wrong with this? Plenty!
1 Timothy 6:12 (KJV) 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
We are told to fight the good fight of faith. That’s because we have an enemy and we need to hold onto what God has given us. As you will recall, there are always two parts to getting answered prayer: God’s part and man’s part. But too many times people throw it all off onto God and think that they don’t have to do anything because “ you never know what God will do because He’s sovereign and He will do whatever He wants to do!” This is not true!
We actually can know what God will do: He will do what He has said in His Word! He doesn’t just come into our lives and do whatever He wants to do. We have our part to do because of our free will. God has set it up this way and He won’t violate His Word.
So what should we do? We should do exactly what He has told us to do: speak His Word in faith and expect results! Remember, you can’t pray in faith unless you know what God’s will is for the situation you’re praying about. God expects us to know His will because He tells us to understand it.
Ephesians 5:17 (KJV) 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
