Have you ever had a clogged drain? I would say most of us have had way too much experience in this area! However, clogged drains can be a little clogged, somewhat clogged, and even so clogged as to have to call a plumber! That’s not a pretty picture!
After you have called the plumber and snaked out the problem, hopefully all is right and flowing freely again. But, what if you had the attitude that you’ll just wait and let the drain unclog itself? How long do you think you’d have to wait? A very long time, to be sure, and then you’d get no results because the problem is still in the drain.
Similarly, if your faith “pipeline” is clogged with doubt and unbelief, guess how successful you’ll be in getting answered prayer? It’s not that you don’t have faith, it’s that there is so much junk that your faith is pushed back, shoved down, and squashed by the clutter that it can’t work effectively, and probably not at all.
So, just what is all the clutter that blocks our faith from working? Lots of things can block our faith but let’s zero in on doubt and unbelief for now. Doubt says, “I really don’t know if this will work.” Unbelief just flat out says, “I don’t believe it will happen!” Both of these positions are wrong and will not get you the desired results. So, what can you do?
First of all, make a commitment that what God says in His Word is true and you believe it — unequivocally, lock, stock, and barrel. Believing God’s Word is not predicated on totally understanding it. That takes a lifetime of study and, even throughout all eternity, we’ll be learning about God and His ways. What a blessing!
Another thing is to never use your experience or the experience of others to determine what you believe about God’s Word. His Word is not based on what people do or don’t do. It’s based on His integrity and faithfulness. God’s Word is true now, always has been, and always will be. If He ever went back on His word, the whole universe would self-destruct!
Luke 21:34 (KJV) 34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
Luke 21:34 (AMP) 34 But take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares pertaining to [the business of] this life, and [lest] that day come upon you suddenly like a trap or a noose;
Colossians 1:17 (KJV) 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Colossians 1:17 (AMP) 17 And He Himself existed before all things, and in Him all things consist (cohere, are held together).\
As you can see, God has never reneged on His word because we’re still here!
I exhort you to make an unqualified decision today to believe God’s Word with all your heart and watch what happens!
