Open mouth, insert foot! How many times have we been guilty of that! If only we could do an instant “do-over” but that doesn’t happen. You can apologize but you can’t un-say something.
Here’s where we come to a crossroad with the world’s system. They tell us to “just let it all out; just vent your feelings and you’ll feel so much better.” But the truth is that it doesn’t work. It actually opens the door for the devil to come right in and clobber you.
Proverbs 18:21 states that death and life are in the power of the tongue. At any one time, we’re speaking either blessing or cursing, good or evil, positive or negative. And to top it off, Jesus said we’ll have what we say if we believe in our hearts, doubt not, and believe that what we say will come to pass, we’ll have what we say. Even though Jesus was referring to positive things, if you say the negative things long enough, you’ll end up believing it and it will come to pass!
The problem is that many peoples are saying what they don’t really want to happen even though they actually believe it. For example, some will confess that heart attacks run in their family and therefore they expect to get a heart attack. And they probably will because they have said it long enough to get it into their hearts where they really believe it will happen.
Sad to say, many Christians are in the same boat of negative confessions. This ought not to be. We have a mandate from God to take dominion over the earth, not to let the earth dominate us. There’s power in our words and we need to acknowledge that and speak accordingly.
Many Christians wonder why their positive words confessions take so long to manifest but the negative ones seem to be “johnny-on-the-spot”! That’s because they believe the negative confession more than the positive ones. That’s why we must continue to confess God’s promises over and over and over ‘til their reality gets from our heads into our hearts. And that’s when we’ll see manifestation.
I know people who can rarely have a conversation without complaining or being negative about something. And they wonder why things don’t work out for them! It’s one inch from their noses!
I exhort you to be aware of the words that you speak so that only blessing comes forth. It will change your entire attitude for good!
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
James 3:8-12 (KJV) 8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Matthew 12:37 (KJV) 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Genesis 1:26 (KJV) 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
