What is a prayer of unbelief? This is important because unless you can identify what a prayer of unbelief is, you’ll keep praying the wrong way and getting no results. This is very frustrating for Christians who sincerely love God and want to partake of all that He has given us.
Let’s begin by identifying what unbelief is. There are several kinds of unbelief:
1 – Unbelief that comes from ignorance. You don’t believe because you don’t know enough of God’s Word to believe. This is a lack of knowledge and can be overcome by simply teaching what God’s Word says.
2 – Another kind of unbelief comes from wrong teaching. If you’re taught wrong, you’ll believe wrong. This kind is overcome by countering the wrong teaching and then teaching the truth of God’s Word.
3 –Then there’s the natural kind of unbelief that comes from what your five physical senses are telling you. For example, when you pray for healing and still see the symptoms, this can cause unbelief to rear its ugly head. This too is overcome by teaching the truth of God’s Word.
So what do we do? As you know, God is a faith God and He deals with us on a faith level. Everything we get from God must be received by faith because faith is how we access the spirit realm where all the blessings are.
When you pray, you must pray according to God’s Word, if you want God’s results. You can’t just pray any ol’ thing and expect results. Too many times this is the case. People want to do it their way instead of God’s way. When this happens and people don’t get their desired results, they begin to make up reasons why God didn’t answer their prayer. This is not good because it perpetrates lies about God. And that’s why God can’t answer prayers of unbelief because He only answers prayers prayed in faith according to His Word.
And another thing – if you don’t know the Word, how can you pray according to the Word of God? Really! That can be changed by getting into God’s Word and studying it. Christians should have a love of God’s Word because He and His Word are One. And if you don’t have a love of God’s Word, you need to ask yourself why!
Brothers and sisters, God has so graciously given us His Word in written form so that we can be all that He has called us to be and show forth His goodness to the sick and dying world around us. His Word is the Manufacturer’s Handbook and shows us everything we need to know on planet earth to be victorious.
Praise the Lord of glory!
Psalm 103:2 (KJV) 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
1 Peter 3:12 (KJV) 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
1 John 5:14-15 (KJV) 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Matthew 17:20-21 (KJV) 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Romans 14:23b (KJV) 23 … for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
James 1:6-8 (KJV) 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Mark 9:23-24 (KJV) 23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV) 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
