The Most Powerful Word in the Bible!

As you know, I teach a lot on words – God’s and ours. Words are extremely important because, as Keith Moore says, “If you have control of your mouth, you have control of your life!”

Today I want to talk about the most important word in the Bible. I can just hear many of you suggesting which one it is but I think you’ll be surprised when I tell you what I have learned from Charles Capps.

Mark 14:35-36 (KJV) 35  And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. 36  And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Here we see that Jesus is praying in the Garden of Gethsemane – the night before His crucifixion. This is so intense that He is actually sweating blood! And then He prays the above prayer.

I want to remind you that Jesus always got His prayers answered. Without going into detail, He prays that if at all possible, God would take away what is about to happen to Him – complete separation from His Father and being made sin for us by taking on His sinless pure body all the ugliness and horror of mankind’s sin. He would actually take our place to pay for our sins so that we could be brought back into fellowship with our Father God.

So, Jesus prays that God would take away what is about to happen – but, thank the Lord of Glory, Jesus says – nevertheless, not My will but Yours, Father! If He had not prayed that way and God granted his request, we’d all be on our way to hell with no hope of ever being redeemed!

We have so much to be thankful for!

Strong Spirit vs Weak Spirit

We know that when your body is weak, you cannot do the things you would normally do if you were strong. That being said, it’s the same with your spirit, the real you inside that makes you tick.

If your spirit is strong, your faith is strong but if your spirit is weak, your faith is weak. You can’t have strong faith if your spirit is weak. Perhaps you have already noticed that.

So how do you strengthen your spirit since you can’t actually see your spirit like you can see your body and how can you know if your spirit is strong when you can’t see it?

Romans 10:17 (KJV)
17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Why does faith come from hearing God’s Word? Because that’s where faith is – in God’s Word. So if we want to strengthen our spirits, we have to get into God’s Word and get His Word into us. And as the Scripture says, faith comes from hearing His Word – not having heard but hearing and hearing and hearing until it sinks deep into us in abundance.

Let me caution you that not all messages preached from the pulpit are filled with faith. Preaching a social gospel or a seeker-friendly message will not instill the faith of God into you. You need to feed on the anointed Word of God that will penetrate right into your heart and cause faith to come, teaching that comes right from the Word of God with His anointing on it.

How do you know if the preaching and teaching is anointed? By the witness of your re-born spirit. Does it witness to you or does your spirit indicate that all is not right? You might be new to this but if you step out and take one step at a time, the Holy Spirit in you will witness to your spirit whether it’s of Him or not. This takes practice but it’s entirely do-able.

Brothers and sisters, hearing from God in your spirit is the most important thing you need to learn. Purpose to seek Him in this and learn how to be sensitive to His voice.

John 10:27 (KJV)
27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Proverbs 18:14 (AMP) 14  The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?

Proverbs 4:23 (AMP) 23  Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.

Here We Go With Those Words Again!

Today I want to talk about the following scripture:

James 1:26 (KJV) 26  If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

What does bridling your tongue have to do with deceiving your heart? Plenty! Bridling means to curb or keep in check. In other words, to rein in and keep under control.

Too many times people just blurt out whatever comes to mind, especially in a discussion or argument. But that’s very dangerous because a lot of things can come out that we don’t really want to come out. And we’re planting seeds we really don’t want to produce!

Also, how about the times when we get discouraged and start making bad confessions of defeat and failure and say that nothing ever works out!

What’s wrong with all this? A lot! Our spirit is designed by God to cause to come to pass whatever we put in it. If we put in bad confessions, whether we mean them or not, our spirit will try to cause them to come to pass. Then when we speak the thing that we really want, it’s confusing to our spirit and that’s where we deceive our spirit.

We need to speak crop failure to all bad confessions!

Brothers and sisters, I’ve taught on this numerous times but it always bears repeating that we absolutely must watch every word that we speak. We must speak according to and in line with God’s Word and not the world’s words of negativity, failure, and defeat.

How can God get involved in our lives if we’re constantly speaking contrary to His Word? He can’t! He only moves in accordance with His Word prayed in faith! And remember, the angels move on the Word of God that we speak!

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) 21  Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Psalm 103:20 (KJV) 20  Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

What’s Really in God’s Word?

2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) 16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

As you know, I am continuously encouraging you to get into God’s Word and get it into you. So, today I want to elaborate a bit about just what’s in God’s Word and why should we get into it.

God’s Word is just that – His Word, spoken by Him to us. As you can see in the above scripture, His Word was given by inspiration to the writers of the Bible. Let’s look at the word – inspiration.

The word inspiration in the Greek is theopneustos which means divinely breathed in or God-breathed. That means when God spoke His Word into the earth, He spoke part of Himself into each Word. That means His DNA is in the Words He spoke! It contains His very breath! How awesome is that!

Let me give you an example that Rick Renner shared. If you blowup a balloon, the breath you breathe into it sustains it after you tie a knot. But the interesting thing is that the breath you have just breathed into the balloon contains your DNA because it came out of you.

Likewise, when God breathed out His words, they came from inside Him and also contain His DNA. This is so awesome because when we speak His Words, they’re still just as powerful as when He first spoke them. That’s why confession of the Word is so important.

When we confess – speak – God’s Word, we are actually speaking out those Words to cause them to do what they were sent to do.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

God’s Word doesn’t automatically come to pass just because it’s in the Bible. It has to be spoken in faith for God to move on it and then POWER comes forth to cause the results. Praise the Lord of Glory!

Have Your Traditions Replaced God’s Word?

Mark 7:13a (KJV) 13  Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition,

Traditions, traditions, traditions! We all have them to some degree or other but…are they a good thing or not? Let’s look into this.

There are a lot of traditions that families have: going to college, following in the family business, celebrating holidays, etc.  Even though these in themselves aren’t actually bad, are they what the Lord has for us? Have you prayed about what to do with your life or are you being led by tradition?

Jesus always did what He saw and heard His Father God do and say. Should we expect anything less for ourselves, as born-again Christians?

John 5:19 (KJV) 19  Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 8:38a (KJV) 38  I speak that which I have seen with my Father:

Now, here’s a touchy one: what about Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and even the Tooth Fairy? Yes, celebrating the birth of Jesus and His Resurrection are in line with God’s Word. That we know. But what about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, witches, goblins, and fairies? Do these line up with God’s word or are they distractions to what God has to say?

I realize that many of you probably won’t like what I’m saying but this is not my opinion. This is outright lying to your children and then wondering why they don’t trust you when they grow up.

My suggestion, if you’re still reading this post, is to tell them that this is all make believe and pretend but people just like to have fun with it. That way you can have your fun with Santa Claus but know that your kids are aware that it’s make-believe.

However, this is not so with Halloween. That tradition is demonic and should be avoided at all costs. Glorifying the devil in any way is an abomination to God and certainly should be to you too.

We need to have family traditions of going the church, praying as a family, living the Word of God in front of our children, and even celebrating the birth and Resurrection of Jesus our Lord. And while you’re at it, why not celebrate your kids’ birthdays with a wonderful party of fun and laughter? That’s a happy tradition!

You see, dear brothers and sisters, it’s not really all about what we want. It’s about pleasing our Heavenly Father and giving glory to Him in all we do. That’s when we can experience a life that’s worth living on planet earth!

Are Your Words Good Enough to Eat?

Proverbs 16:24 (KJV) 24  Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Our words should be a blessing every time we speak. That way, if we have to eat them, they’ll be sweet and nourishing. What am I saying?

In the above scripture, we see that pleasant words are like honeycomb. That means agreeable words, not harsh, antagonistic words, preferably God’s Word coming out of our mouths.

The word health in this scripture is marpê which actually means medicine or a cure. This means that when we speak God’s Word – what He says – we can expect to get our health restored, our relationships restored, and our life restored.

Brothers and sisters, the reason I emphasize the importance of our words is that God emphasizes it. Everything He did or does is by speaking His Word first and getting it into the earth to do is will.

Did you know that before Jesus could come to the earth as a man, God had to get His Word into the earth? It took millennia to do this. And then when He found a prophet who would actually speak forth His word – Isaiah – it took another 750 years until Jesus was actually born here.

As my Pastor, Keith Moore says, if you believe the very first verse of the Bible, you won’t have trouble with the rest! God spoke and it was! His Word always works!

Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Watch your mouth!

Proverbs 16:23 (KJV) 23  The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

How true this is! But wait – what does this mean? How can your heart teach your mouth? Read on.

Jesus said that out of the abundance – or overflow – of your heart, your mouth speaks. [Matthew 12:34] That means whatever is in your heart in abundance, will eventually come out of your mouth – whether good of bad. It works both ways.

What we should want is for only good to come out of our mouths. That way we will be a blessing to those who hear us. Have you ever been sharing the Word with someone and something profound came out of your mouth? That’s because you had already put it in. That’s what is so exciting about getting the Word into your heart so that when you need for it to come out, it’s there. Otherwise, whatever else is in your heart will come out and it might not always be a good thing. I think you know what I mean.

Let’s get God’s Word into us so that we can trust what comes out of our mouths and be a blessing to those around us.

Matthew 12:34b (KJV) 34  …  for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

We Need to be Thankful!

Being thankful is one of the big keys to promotion in the Lord. He tells us over and over to be thankful and appreciative of what He’s done for us. But are we thankful?

I have observed that many people are more focused on what they don’t have than on what they do have. God has so provided for us in every way that we can literally spend all eternity thanking Him for all He’s done for us.

Unfortunately, the devil has gotten in and made us think that we’re deprived and have to do without in order to get through this life. Not so!

If we’re lacking in any area, it’s not God’s fault but ours! Why can I say that? Because He has so graciously provided everything we’ll ever need on planet earth to be successful and victorious but most people don’t believe that.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV)
3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

This shows us just part of what God has already given us – all things! And just for the record, there are over 7000 promises in the Bible for us! So how do we get them to manifest in our lives?

You guessed it – by our faith! Faith accesses the promises. All the promises are in the spirit realm. Faith is the bridge that brings things from the spirit realm into the physical realm. That’s how God set it up to work and it works if we work it!

One of the ways or keys to accessing the spirit realm is by speaking God’s Word. Mark 11:23-24 is an example.

Mark 11:23-24 (KJV)
23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

When we speak God’s Word, it gives Jesus something to work with and gives the angels something to move on. But we have to actually do the speaking. We can’t just beg and plead with God to do it for us.

1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV) 8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

James 4:7 (KJV) 7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

If we want the devil off our backs, we have to do the resisting, not ask God to do it for us. Notice that the devil will flee from you when you resist him, not flee from God.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Let’s thank the Lord for His goodness to us — Pamela

Does Following the Lord Seem Hard to You?

As you know, being a Christian necessarily means that we are followers of Jesus Christ. But sometimes the things we’re supposed to do seem hard and unattainable. For example:

Do you have a habit that keeps crawling out and trying to overtake you – like eating too much, maybe smoking, maybe foul language, not loving the unlovely, etc.? Or maybe you’re a people-pleaser and you know that this isn’t a good life style but it seems so hard to break out of that habit. Well, I have good news for all my brothers and sisters in the Lord.

The reason why you might be having a hard time is because you’re trying to do it in the flesh instead of letting the Holy Spirit undergird you. Trying to walk the Christian life in the flesh doesn’t work and can get very discouraging. You have to do it empowered by the Holy Spirit. Then it will work and the anointing of God will enable you to overcome your weaknesses.

Galatians 1:10 (KJV) 10  For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
1 Thessalonians 2:4 (KJV) 4  But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

You can do it– Pamela

Who are You Following?

It seems that any one time in our lives, we’re following someone or something: people, beliefs, ideologies, concepts, ideas, and the list goes on and on. But, is there a right answer to the question: who should we follow? Yes there is and it’s the Lord Jesus Christ!

John 13:15 (KJV) 15  For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Jesus tells us that He is the example to follow and rightly so since He was and is the perfect example of how we should live. But how many do that? Not many. Just look around and ask yourself if those you’re observing are following in Jesus’ footsteps and changing the world for good? Look in the mirror and ask yourself the same question.

So what’s the problem? Notice what Jesus told us to do!

John 14:12 (KJV) 12  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Matthew 10:8 (KJV) 8  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

As Christians, we should, of all people be following and acting like Jesus would act but we aren’t. Why not? Because we don’t have confidence that we can do what He has told us we can do. But wait—there’s an answer to that.

Whenever we have to step out and take a risk, whether it’s an action, sharing some scriptures with others, or praying for the sick, we don’t have that anointing until we actually step out. Then we get God’s empowerment.

Too many people are waiting for the “anointing” to hit before they step out but it doesn’t work that way. You have to step our first and then the anointing kicks in.

It’s similar to the Israelites crossing the Jordan River. The priests had to step into the river before it divided and they could go across. [Joshua 3:1-17]

And so it is with us. We have to be bold and step out to do what God has told us to do and then we’ll receive the empowerment to do it. There’s no place for a wimpy attitude!

Ephesians 5:1 (KJV) 1  Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

1 Corinthians 11:1 (KJV) 1  Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
